Research[edit]

I looked on Ancestry for any records relating to Jones and found a possible match in the Alabama, U.S., Convict Records, 1886-1952. It gives his name as Sidney Jones (as do some newspaper articles from around the time of his execution) and that he was 27 at the time of his sentencing in 1908. He was from Huntsville, where his family resided.

It mentions he was delivered to a sheriff, charged with the murder of Will Watson, in 1914. This seems to be the murder he was executed for -https://www.newspapers.com/clip/109476241/the-southern-democrat/
