I've made a start to the new article about the book, but it still needs a lot of work. --G Rutter 08:50, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Section[edit]

I have added the relative ages of the Swallows & Amazons to the Characters section. I wasn't sure what to put for Roger though, as he is the youngest of the crew but he still has a younger sister, (Bridget). I've put him down as "Youngest of the Walkers" which isn't quite right but Bridget isn't mentioned in this section. JP Godfrey (Talk to me) 14:37, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a page List of characters in Arthur Ransome books though it needs some work, why don't we just link to that and remove the section from here? Dabbler 15:49, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know what the name Titty is short for?

It's from Mavis Altounyan, one of the real family whom the Walker children were based on. Mavis' nickname came from a book called "The Titty Mouse and the Tatty Mouse". Andy Dingley (talk) 20:27, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger[edit]

Is there any reason why the character stub articles can't be merged into this one? They don't really seem to merit their own articles. At the very least, we could collect them on a "Characters from Swallows and Amazons" page.Chunky Rice 23:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, putting them all on one "Characters of" page probably makes sense. There isn't that much to say about them individually.

See my comment above, the List already exists just be bold and transfer. There are some individual pages for the more prominent characters too. Dabbler 11:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest a more logical candidate for merger would be the Swallows and Amazons (series) article, which already contains thumbnail sketches of all the characters. Rodparkes 02:56, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've merged the Nancy Blackett, Roger Walker and James Turner articles with the List of Characters in Arthur Ransome books, and changed the character section to remove internal links and draw more attention to the List page. It is still valuable to have a list of characters in each book article to show the major characters in the individual books. Robina Fox 22:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ArthurRansome SwallowAndAmazons.jpg[edit]

Image:ArthurRansome SwallowAndAmazons.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a fair use rationale to the page. Dabbler 23:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blakeholme or Blake Holme[edit]

Anyone mind if I change this to "Blake Holme (Blakeholme)" It's a better fit with the rest of Wikipedia and the Ordnance Survey. I'll change the other use as well. --Old Moonraker (talk) 19:26, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
