Page rename proposal[edit]

I would like to propose renaming this article to "Swedish Biographical Dictionary". The article is definitely useful and relevant, but when its title shows up in categories, it is not immediately obvious what it is for (unless of course someone speaks Swedish). This is a title of a book published a century ago. It doesn't have an English title. In addition, your proposed translation would be just as appropriate for a number of other Swedish biographical dictionaries with similar titles. The Swedish title used here is unique. This particular one is not even the main or standard "Swedish Biographical Dictionary", it just happens to be the only one that has an article on the English Wikipedia. u p p l a n d 20:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you think it is difficult to find books in other languages in categories, I suggest creating a list of encyclopedias/biographical dictionaries (or other books with foreign titles), sorted according to language/country, to complement to the categories. Translation of book titles (other than in the articles, for explanatory purposes) is out of the question, as far as I am concerned. u p p l a n d 20:56, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And I am equally as adamant that having an incomprehensible-to-English-speakers article title is unacceptable in an English-language wikipedia. :) What about renaming it as Svenst biografiskt handlexikon (Swedish Biographical Dictionary)? Elonka 12:09, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
