NY vs Amsterdam[edit]

Houses in Amsterdam are not super renowned for having stoops and as there are many lower level basements/living units even in the few Amsterdam houses with stoops the idea it is for flooding or street flushing is completely absurd. It is much more common in English cities and styles of building brought to NYC after it was no longer New Amsterdam. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.36.49.17 (talk) 13:56, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I found this Stoop article while trying to understand the phrase "sitting on stoops" in this BBC article. A useful quaint word, I say, different to the usual stairs. Zezen (talk) 06:40, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
