MOS vandalism[edit]

User:Alex Mirabella is being unconstructive with this edit to the article's personnel section. He's removing internal links to the names and adding dubious content naming which track the performers are on. Please review Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Article_body#Personnel, Alex. Hmm, I notice the personnel section says "Credits for Stone Rollin' adapted from Allmusic". I would caution against this for 2 reasons: (1) it's been my experience that there are often errors in allmusic's credit listings when you compare them against the actual physical liner notes, and (2) allmusic just lists roles, and doesn't mention which track those roles may refer to, whereas the physical liner notes may go into this detail. I highly recommend consulting an actual physical copy of the album and using it as the source for the personnel, using {{Cite album-notes}} for the citation. I imagine it likely that's where Alex Mirabella is getting the track-by-track credits from. The liner notes, as the primary source, are really the chief authority when it comes to credits. I've used liner notes to cite specific instrument/track credits on many occasions. I suggest asking Alex Mirabella if that's where he/she is getting these credits from, and if so, encouraging him/her to cite the liner notes as a reference for the changes. Hello, I am Alex Mirabella. I just wanted to say that the information that I posted about the personnel was exclusively from the actual physical liner notes that cam with the album. The actual liner notes do, in fact, state which tracks each artist appeared on. I did not in any way use Allmusic as a source of information. Now that I have cleared up this dilema, please consider allowing my edit to appear on the Stone Rollin' article page.
One thing that Is also very confusing is that I made a similar edit on the articles concerning Left of Cool, Outbound, Little Worlds and The Hidden Land, yet those edits were not reverted. I do not, in any way, intend to be unconstructive or cause vandalism, if it appeared that way, it was not my intention. --Alex Mirabella (talk)

I have just made an edit to the personnel section of this page and it is 100% accurate to the actual physical liner notes that came with the original CD release. The info that I recently posted is exclusively from the album's liner notes and no where else. You should believe me. I do not intend to spread vandalism of any sort. My two cents I was asked by Dan56 to give my perspective--in cases where there are a variety of performers throughout an album and those vary widely from track-to-track, it is worthwhile to mention who played what on which. Several articles have passed GA and FA with this information, e.g. ETHWHT. If Alex's contributions are sourced (and I believe that they are), then they should stay--this information is useful to a reader. I will edit MOS:ALBUM now to point out this peculiarity. Thanks.

As long as it's clarified at WP:Albums. I removed the "all tracks" note for Saadiq, as it's suggestive w/out it when all others are specified. Plus, he's likely to have vocals on every track on his own album. Dan56 (talk) 03:16, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
