Speedy deletion

I contest the proposed speedy deletion. Several articles link to this one, so Mr Belichick probably is not irrelevant. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 10:30, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Admittedly, I didn't check Whatlinkshere for Steve Belichick, because when I originally checked, the page was at Steve belichick. The subject seems to be of notability, but the article needs a huge rewrite. I'll remove the request and tag the page. haz (talk) 10:53, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Prodded. If the tag is removed, I urge AfD. B.Wind (talk) 04:08, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Notability

Just do a search on Steve Belichick in Google and the question of notability is answered. He is considered a "Navy Coaching Legend", his death was covered by all the major papers (Washington Post, New York times)... This article needs a lot of work but you can't call him non-notable. -- Atamachat 00:47, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Plagiarism a Possibility

I'm sorry to say that at least several sentences in this articles seem to have been lifted word for word (or virtually word-for word) from David Halberstam's book "Education of a Coach."

For example: "Steve Belichick [had been] a very good high school football player, fast and tough." is in the Halberstam book, as is the sentence "Western Reserve, later Case Western Reserve, was an oasis for Steve, a very good college..."

Shouldn't the Halberstam source material be paraphrased -- or else quoted with quote marks?

Complete Plagarism

Another person noted that some of this article may be plagarized. I have just finished the section form David Halberstam's book "The Education of a Coach" and the "Career" section is as close to verbatim as is possible. The ENTIRE article should be footnoted as from Mr. Halberstam's book and not the one small section.

That is correct. I have deleted it and will start again from scratch. Please do not introduce copyrighted material into Wikipedia. Thank you. Chick Bowen 21:55, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
