Christian "Step by Step"[edit]

There's a Christian/religious song called "Step by Step"

And....? who cares about that, this is one of the best and most popular songs of the 90's, while your song is unheard of.

Fair use rationale for Image:Step by step nl.jpg[edit]

Image:Step by step nl.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Page moving[edit]

  • I keep moving this article to Step by Step (New Kids on the Block song) simply because there are several songs on the disambiguation pages with this title, but Fadiga09 keeps moving it back with the reasoning being that this song is the most important simply due to how many YouTube views it has (not to mention that this article doesn't contain any sources). Looks like I'll have to take this to WP:RPP. THE AMERICAN METROSEXUAL (talk) 08:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have sourced as many things as i can in this article. (Fadiga09 (talk) 17:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Third opinion[edit]

This discussion was listed at WP:3O requesting an outside opinion. In response to that request, I have reviewd the article history and this page. I also reviewed the conventions established at WikiProject Songs - specifically the naming conventions. The established norm by that wikiproject is that the addition of an artist name is only necessary if another article already exists using the "Title (song)" format. There is currently no other article using the "Title (song)" format on the english WP. The only other article about a song of the same name is Step by Step (Annie Lennox song), and this article predates that one by eight months. I do not see that the renaming of this article is necessary, nor that the WikiProject guidelines support such a change. It is my opinion that the article should not be renamed. Song Origin[edit]

I deleted the bit about the song supposedly being meant for Maurice's other group The Superiors but New Kids hearing the song and insisted on having the song instead of letting the other group have it. Since the song had already been recorded and released as a promotional single in 1987 by The Superiors, 3 years before New Kids covered it, it's unlikely this scenario ever happened.
