Status Quo (disambiguation)Status Quo – Per WP:DIFFCAPS like Friendly Fire it would seem better to have no primary topic for the upper case. This is a sensible compromise between having it go to the general meaning which means people bothering to capitalize are likely taken to the wrong place and having the proper noun as primary meaning people who do overcapitalize could be surprised. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Bluelink patrol#Recently completed investigations it appears all the links to it were for the band other than 1 for a religious group. The band has 24,166 views and Status Quo (Jerusalem and Bethlehem) has 4,343 compared with only 12,157 for the general concept meaning that clearly the general concept isn't primary by PT#1 though it may be primary by PT#2. The title case version formerly redirected to the band, see Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2011 September 3#Status Quo where there was a consensus to change it to the general concept. Google which is not case sensitive returns the band in all but 1 result (a Dictionary one), Images also mainly returns the band but Books is split and the general concept comes up 1st. Alternatively move to Status quo (disambiguation) and redirect the title case version here given Status quo (Israel) is lower case. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:36, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. As I said in the discussion at WP:BPAT, it's difficult to imagine that the Latin phrase has ever been correctly written as Status Quo, and therefore the current redirect Status Quostatus quo looks misguided. Latin capitalisation rules are very similar to those of English: essentially, first word in a sentence and proper nouns only (although English also capitalises proper adjectives). For parallel examples of Latin phrases which are never (or never correctly) capitalised in English, see e.g. a priori and a posteriori, in situ and post hoc ergo propter hoc. • Oppose, no matter what proper Latin consists of, many readers searching for Status quo would just type Status Quo. Not every reader is a Latin scholar. Randy Kryn (talk) 19:58, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Pageviews for the band are on the level with all other uses combined. This heavy traffic isn't under the influence of recentism, as they were famous in the last century. The more encyclopedic nature of the Latin phrase means there's no perfect remedy, but with a dab at the base name we don't stop readers finding whatever they want. • Support per nom. More editors monitor (and fix) links to disambiguation pages than incorrect redirects. GoingBatty (talk) 02:51, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, I'm not a huge fan of WP:DIFFCAPS in general, and I'm not certain persons searching the phrase "status quo" would necessarily know to keep it small caps.--Ortizesp (talk) 16:08, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Suppport - the capitalised form of "Status Quo" would tend to mean the band, and that gets more page views, so I think it's OK to treat this as a Friendly Fire case.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:34, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - It seems like the band are likely the primary topic for the capitalised form, while the disambiguation page should probably be at "Status quo (disambiguation)" without the capitalised "Quo". HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 21:41, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support HumanBodyPiloter5's proposed move - The band are the primary topic per page views, so move Status Quo (band) -> Status Quo and Status Quo (disambiguation) -> Status quo (disambiguation). FOARP (talk) 13:08, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
