Fair use rationale for Image:Soniabirth.JPG[edit]

Image:Soniabirth.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Did she and Martin re-marry?[edit]

I know in 2007 when they left they were engaged again and in September 2007, Dot asked them how preperations for their wedding were going, can we take it that they re-married then? Alex250P (talk) 19:20, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They must have done because Sonia and Carol were talking tonight about making a marriage work. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:05, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to post this :) so we can add it in then Alex250P (talk) 21:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but we don't know the year. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:33, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that Vabadus91 removed Sonia and Martin's divorce and remarriage with the edit summary "Martin and Sonia were not divorced in 2006. They reconciled after a separation and left. There was no mention of a divorce and subsequent remarriage", while Soaper1234 has just put the divorce and remarriage back. But as Alex250P said in 2010, if they were preparing for a wedding then they must have divorced. anemoneprojectors 13:17, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) Sorry, I added it back without looking at the edit history, presuming an IP address user had removed it without reason. I only didn't check because it had remained as that for so long. Soaper1234 (talk) 13:22, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok. I must be the only person who checks every edit to every page on my watchlist - I just assumed this was normal behaviour for Wikipedians! ;-) But I'm still not sure if they divorced and remarried. I thought they definitely did. I seem to remember some confusion at the time but dialogue seemed to make it obvious, which must be what Alex250P says above. anemoneprojectors 11:57, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sonia (2010)[edit]

is sonia staying or leaving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.133.87.22 (talk) 21:00, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She left tonight as she is not credit in any more episodes coming up, i saw them on bbc.co.uk. Brianwazere 21:34, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

The wedding reception continues tomorrow though, which she's attending. It was harly worth bringing her back. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:44, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2011[edit]

I have reverted everything saying she is returning because there has been no official announcement. "Sonia's intervention" is probably a phone call to Bianca. They still credit Cassidy because she is mentioned. They credited Kylie when they mentioned her sentencing on the Press Office site but she didn't return. If she was returning, there would have been some news about it. AnemoneProjectors 21:56, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed that she is returning for one episode, but I was right to revert at the time. AnemoneProjectors 01:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Marriage to Martin[edit]

Sonia didn't actually say they had divorced, only that they had split up. So they may not be divorced, but if they are we don't know if they divorced in 2010 or 2011. –AnemoneProjectors– 22:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to self: see #Did she and Martin re-marry? above. anemoneprojectors 13:18, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name change?[edit]

Just realised this page is listed under 'Sonia Fowler', Sonia was known as Sonia Jackson for over ten years before becoming a Fowler - also 'Sonia Jackson' receives over 20 million hits on Google, whilst Sonia Fowler receives 1 million. Surely we should change? Alex250P (talk) 01:33, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Going by Google News (which is better), there are 83 results for '"Sonia Fowler" EastEnders' and 96 for '"Sonia Jackson" EastEnders'. I would support the page move. –AnemoneProjectors– 12:47, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering, would anybody still be up for changing the name of the page? Sonia is much better known by the name Jackson. 176.249.153.12 (talk) 17:47, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relatives[edit]

Are these relatives relevant to Sonia?

  • Reenie Branning
  • Derek Branning
  • Jack Branning
  • Natasha Butcher
  • Suzy Branning

SamLaws81101 (talk) 17:42, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reenie was in just two episodes, so I would only list her on the pages of those she is most closely related to - so not Sonia, as overall, it's a minor relationship even if Sonia was in those episodes with Reenie. I've always been of the opinion that Carol and her kids, and Carol and her siblings, are treated as two separate families (the Jacksons and Brannings), and I don't think Sonia, has had much to do with Derek, Jack or Suzy. Natasha should only be listed on Bianca and Ricky's pages (and Natasha's siblings I guess). anemoneprojectors 16:07, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hugely over-detailed plot summary[edit]

Both by word count and by byte count, this article is 60% plot summaries of what has happened "in-universe" to this character and this proportion continues to grow. This looks like a violation of WP:PLOT and MOS:PLOT. My sense is that this should be drastically trimmed and only plot details that have achieved notability in third-party, reliable sources should be included. Before undertaking such a reduction, however, I am asking for the views of those better-acquainted with the subject. Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 20:38, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AnemoneProjectors, SamLaws81101, Trampikey, Gungadin, Gareth Griffith-Jones, and How3: Do any of the previous contributors have any objections to drastic reductions of the plot details here? Thanks in advance. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:14, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Gareth Griffith-Jones, thank you for your support. I intend to wait some time for others to possibly voice objections. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 14:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm totally happy for plot summaries to be shortened, but I'd prefer it to be done by someone familiar with the subject (not sure if those already commenting are). A problem we have is editors tend to watch an episode and add what happened to the character straight away, and with over 200 episodes a year (although not all of them featuring this character of course) that can be a lot of unnecessary detail. The other problem is when editors cut things down, others come along after a year or two and expand it again. Most plots are reported in third-party sources but as for which ones are notable I don't know. Trimming down the plot would be good but it's just hard to do sometimes when a character has been around for so long. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 15:46, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just cut down the 2014- plot section, it was actually quite easy. These things are always easier to do when a storyline has finished rather than when it is still ongoing. That's why I don't really mind regular updates if it means plots aren't forgotten, as long as someone comes back to cut it down later. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 16:09, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnemoneProjectors:, I'll happily stand aside and let your judgment be primary here. Your efforts have already greatly addressed my concerns. I live in New England so I've never seen an episode of Neighbours. I know that it's an important cultural touchstone in the Oz but that's about it. Thanks again for your help. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

Surely this page should be renamed Sonia Jackson? Not only is this her common name, but her and Martin divorced years ago and the actor who played Martin at the time hasn't even been in the show for over a decade. I'm sure she's also credited as Jackson now as well? Does anyone else think the name ought to be changed?

Soapoholic (talk) 22:45, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Still referred to as Fowler on the BBC website and in the credits. Just because she's divorced does not mean that she will go back to her maiden name.-- 5 albert square (talk) 22:43, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I know what you’re saying, but if you look above on this talk page you’ll see another section about renaming to Sonia Jackson, and the reasons why are very accurate. That was also 7 years ago, and the character is even more so known as Sonia Jackson now.--Soapoholic (talk) 12:03, 3 October 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:409B:A300:5891:5E5E:BA1F:B91B (talk) [reply]
