Cubao is not just Socorro[edit]

Hi PogingJuan. Thank you for this article on Socorro, QC. I appreciate this and your other contributions to WP. However, I just have to ask where you got the information that the alternative name for Socorro is Cubao. Cos as far as i know, Cubao actually pertains to an old and much bigger district that covers not just Socorro but its other neighboring barangays. For example, the Cubao Cathedral, supposedly the center of Cubao, is in the barangay of Immaculate Conception (part of QC's 4th district). The Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School is in the barangay of Pinagkaisahan (also part of the city's 4th district west of EDSA). IMO, Socorro is supposed to be located in Cubao, not Cubao itself, which I believe is the whole area south of Diliman district, east of New Manila district, north of Ugong Norte/Camps Crame/Aguinaldo and west of Libis/Bagumbayan. This needs further research and verification tho. Thanks!--RioHondo (talk) 14:59, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely, you're correct. Cubao is not just Socorro. Cubao is an area, where Socorro belongs. Cubao includes the neighboring barangays, west of Project 4, south of Diliman, Araneta Center (the most known area in Cubao, under the jurisdiction of Socorro), the see of Diocese of Cubao, and 'what you've mentioned'. And actually, one of these days, I am planning to create an article named "Cubao" (which will list barangays under it and some stuffs about it, like an article "Port Area, Manila"). But isn't it considerable that Cubao can be an alternative name to Socorro, because of the point that in home addressing in Socorro, you can write an address without mentioning 'name of street, Barangay Socorro, Cubao' and instead, 'name of street, Cubao' only, and the fact that Cubao (alongside with Diliman, Project areas, etc.) is not really a de jure district, based on legal divisions (like legislative districts), and just a de facto area. If not, we can mention on the article that "Socorro is a barangay in the Cubao area, located in the ....". And if considerable, we can link the word 'Cubao' to article 'Cubao' (which I plan to make). Thank you!--Manila's PogingJuan 15:43, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I look forward to seeing your revisions and articles on Cubao and more. Yes, it would be better to separate the barangays from areas to avoid confusion. The Quezon City government website has tons of info on those areas including Diliman, San Francisco del Monte, Novaliches, Balintawak (former municipalities that were amalgamated to form QC). Cheers!--RioHondo (talk) 16:05, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
