Location

the article mentions that the operations for Snapchat are located in Pacific Palisades, CA, however, Snapchat owns a building on the Venice Beach walk, Venice Beach being not very close to Pacific Palisades and definitely not considered such. The Snapchat building is recognizable by not only the Snapchat ghost logo posted on the outside of the house converted to office space, but curiously enough, is surrounded by cameras on all angles of the building, signs posted that say they are being videotapped, and a security guard walking the perimeter. iPhone centric

Many sections of this article are written as if the app is only available for iPhone. For example the section on screenshots talks about iOs apps, a camera roll, etc as if there is only one kind of phone in this universe. Arbitration clause

@Legaleagle00: I removed the section on the arbitration clause as a violation of WP:NPOV, WP:UNDUE, and WP:BALASPS. Also, it is not encyclopedic to place in every business's article whether or not it has an arbitration clause in its consumer contracts. In general, unless the clause has itself received significant coverage (compare General Mills#Change to legal terms), it should not get a special mention in the article. This article is written from the viewpoint of business development and fans. I couldn't find points to illustrate the notability, except for the buzz it creates. While it is enough for wiki notability, it is not informative. I became fascinated with the Snapchat saga ( the lawsuit, expansion, competition w/ Facebook, etc.,) But honestly I've become rather bored. Don't use Snapchat much, one of the olds. Doubt I will be putting on those shades. I had never edited at Wikipedia before, and was on sick leave during much of the Snapchat contributions. India uninstalling snapchat

Strongly advise revision of lede and article

The lede currently presents new material, not contained in the article itself. The entire statistic-laden closing paragraph of the lede is a time-sensitive, already dated selection of data from one survey at one point in the product history. It belongs in the main body, with only its general take-home message being lede-worthy. And then, such a summary of the statistics, which is proper material for the lede, must clearly state that its interpretations are "As of (date)…". Well, you are right. I wasn't here when it was originally written, but I have been thinking about how to remove it from the lead and put it in the article. The lead should actually have a much greater focus on features and functionality, in my opinion. Do you have any suggestions on article placement for the study? Perhaps §Business and multimedia, §§Demographics, with the whole of this subsection being then summarised in 1-2 sentences in the lede. It is all the more appalling when there is published academic research on demographics, that the Variety-funded survey, reported then in Variety, is the only research summarised in the lede! If you have the time, go to the Variety article, and state the period over which the survey was performed (if published in 2016, it may have been performed over 3 mos. in 2015), and note how the study was designed—see in-text note in lede; how survey participants were chosen, how many there were, what percent queried actually responded, etc. If not discussed/disclosed, this too is statement-worthy. There does indeed appear to be a conflict of interest, which I believe is easily reason enough to take it out of the lead. A quick Google search doesn't show any non-Variety sources talking about its study, either. There is also, in my opinion, way too much of a focus on Snapchat's history in the lead (why is information that Evan Spiegel was living at home important)? The lead needs refinements, but unfortunately, fixes won't come in 5 minutes. That said, having taken a quick look at the article itself, it seems overall pretty much okay. That means I can spend most of my focus on the lead. Trimming History, adding info on Features, and shortening info on user demographics, based on actual research, can fix the lead. Hi @Benvhoff: The "Demographics" section of the article states that "In the study, only 1.6% of respondents reported using Snapchat primarily for sexting, although 14.2% admitted to having sent sexual content via Snapchat at some point". You had sources, you had proper language, you did great! :) However, the sentence preceding the one you added, which currently states "An "Official Stories" designation was added in November 2015 to denote the public stories of notable figures and celebrities, similar to Twitter's "Verified account" program." describes the same information as you added in your edit. The "unique emoji for celebrities" is exactly what the Official Stories does, so I believe it's the same thing. Does that make sense? :) LocalNet (talk) 07:35, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

With the recent Snapchat design changes which have received massive backlash from users, even from app pioneer Kylie Jenner (Source: Kylie Jenner's Tweet), I believe that a subsection for this major topic should be added to the controversy area. All the information in the article was relevant, history, statistics of growth, and core functionality is all stated. Overall the article is not biased, it is very neutral. Facts regarding the app, its different features, and stories about the features can be read in the article. I checked two links and both took me straight to the original source.

In order to use filters go to the main camera screen and hit the button next to the capture button. Then a bunch of different filters will pop up where the capture button was. You can slide your finger to the filter you want.

In January of 2017, former employee Anthony Pompliano filed a state lawsuit accusing Snapchat of doctoring growth metrics with the intention of deceiving investors. Pompliano claimed that CEO Evan Spiegel was dismissive of his concerns, and that Pompliano was fired shortly thereafter. The judge dropped Pompliano’s claims that Snapchat violated the Dodd-Frank and Consumer Protection Acts in retaliation against him, citing an arbitration clause in his contract. However, Snap Inc. faced blowback over a lack of disclosure regarding the contents of the lawsuit, resulting in plunging stock prices, several class action lawsuits, and Federal investigations.

What happens after 30 days? -After 30 days, any unopened snapchats will automatically be deleted or expire which is the same thing as being opened automatically. Therefore, this will change the user's snapscore.
