Audi-centric

This is a very Audi-centric article. If all of the keyless systems are similar, wouldn't it be best to discuss them in general, and then make references to the implimentations? - Troublekit 07:45, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

Citing source for calling the article "Advanced Key"

I don't see any sources for why the article is called "Advanced Key"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Payam81 (talkcontribs) 00:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC).

It appears to be so named because that is the name of the Audi implementation, on which it appears this article is focused. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.36.186.2 (talk) 18:17, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

I moved it to electronic key 69.65.224.246 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC).

In MERCEDES NOMENCLATURE, ITS CALLED A SMART KEY. OTHER COMANIES MAY CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.127.160.246 (talk) 07:46, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Refrecencs lack credibility

I own a Mercedes, Smart Keys were introduced in 1998.

(not saying this is a reputable link)

In this photograph, the smart key ignition is clearly visible in the photo of this 1998 c230. In 1999, mb made changes to the interior including a new style of radio. The older radio is clearly visible in the 1998. http://www.cars-directory.net/gallery/mercedes/c230/1998/mercedes_c230_2836962_3_orig.html

Please do not revert this article untill consulting with me or a mercedes dealer/parts department — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.127.160.246 (talk) 20:50, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Possible merge?

I've expanded the article briefly with references, but wouldn't it be better to merge it with Remote keyless system? It's quite concise and there's not much more that can be added. Chris 42 (talk) 21:48, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Should definitely be merged, IMO (MBA) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.36.102.228 (talk) 03:57, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Def merge; it's essentially just added features to keyless entry. Vrefron (talk) 20:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Vote to merge it is still a type of keyless entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.65.229.151 (talk) 00:34, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

"Remote keyless systems" are completly different from the type of system described on this page. But I do agree this page needs some work, the "How it works" section seem to explain only one type of system (and is largely incorrect), whereas the are many different types. A more general approach is needed where the functions of this type of system are described, rather than the specifics explained (as the specifics vary largely between manufacturers). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottleonard101 (talkcontribs) 10:37, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

SMART KEYS ARE NOT SO SMART

I have a 09 nissan murano, with "smart key" technology. I had my "smart key" in my hand, and was handing it to a valet, when someone jumped in and took off with my car. Apparantly these cars will keep going without the key, until they key shuts off. Then the theif, goes to a Nissan Dealer, and has another "smart key" reprogrammed without proper identification. Apparantly Nissan is not so concerned about this at all. They dont see a problem here. Consumers should be aware. Never leave your child in one of these cars, with the engine on, even for a second. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.201.5.151 (talk) 16:22, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

If you had a car without smart key, you would have most likely left the engine running when handing a car over to a valet, in which case a thief would have got away with the car and the keys! Also why would you leave a child in any car with the engine running? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottleonard101 (talkcontribs) 10:47, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
