Untitled[edit]

Hi. I'm planning to expand this page by including more information about Sly Park Dam such as the history or the area, the need for the dam, the owners/operators of the dam, what the water is used for, and Jenkinson lake in general. As it is it is just a brief technical description of the dam.Taylorjones770 (talk) 22:27, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I want to model my article after some well developed wiki pages on California dams, such as the shasta dam. Information will be more difficult to find since it is a much smaller project, but I have a good start so far. My outline:

1. History: This will include information on the area before the dam was built and the events leading up to the construction of the dam. Native Americans, Mormon settlers/pioneers, etc.

2. Funding and construction: This will include information on the Central Valley Project and SLy Park's place in it.

3. Design and operation: This section is largely covered already but I will find some more information to bolster it.

4. Ecological and cultural impact: What impact did flooding the area have on native species? Native Americans?

5. Recreation: Recreation opportunities created by the dam and their economic importance.

Tentative Bibliography:

Pollock Pines Epic, contains a good sumamry of the history. I may need to look through the bibliography of this page to find some scholarly sources on the historical events.

I've put a working draft of the article in my sandbox. Taylorjones770 (talk) 01:03, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
