Common or Slender[edit]

I still think it should be placed under the Common Dunnart name. Is there any other references of Australian origin you can cite? Thankyou Enlil Ninlil 03:53, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Yes I already have seached for him but he deals mainly with Primate human evolution, but he has done work on Dasyuridae I have to admit and is more experienced than me. So I will leave it till I get more information. Happy hunting. Enlil Ninlil 05:10, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had a similar problem to this with White's Tree Frog. Everyone in Australia calls it the Green Tree Frog, however that is the name of a huge amount of frogs around the world. The difference here, is that no other countries have animals called Dunnarts. Therefore, there is no confusion with other species, and it is the more commonly used common name (I use it, and all the sites on external links use it). Also, you cannot take the word of ONE book when it comes to common names. They are called common names, because they are what is commonly used. The choice of which common name to use should be based more on quantity than quality of publication (not to mention a lot of quality publications call it the Common Dunnart). --liquidGhoul 14:58, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
