Homophobia[edit]

An article about Yellowman on allmusic states slackness typically includes homophobia. Does anyone have can references about this issue. Article is here http://www.allmusic.com/artist/yellowman-mn0000681340/biography — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonpatterns (talkcontribs) 14:31, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Slackness covers quite a broad range of lyrical themes. There are a lot of 'slack' deejays who have focused almost exclusively on sexual topics and/or themes of violence - they don't all have homophobic lyrics. Yellowman doesn't strike me as one of those that typify the homophobic side of dancehall. --Michig (talk) 14:42, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information and giving me a fuller idea of the slackness style. Jonpatterns (talk) 16:13, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 3 May 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the Jamaican music topic is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "slackness".
I find no consensus as to whether the primary title Slackness should go to the DAB or become a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to Tension (physics). In the absence of consensus on that point, I find it best to assume WP:NOPRIMARY and use the primary title for the DAB page. – Seems an unlikely primary topic. Slackness should probably be a primary redirect to Slacker or Work ethic. 162 etc. (talk) 16:00, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. This is the clear WP:primary topic over Slackness (album) (see pageviews) and no other article could reasonably use the title. The word does not even appear anywhere in Slacker or Work ethic. - Station1 (talk) 20:11, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as proposed. My first thought for this term was the subject at Resource slack, which seems more plausible than the proposed targets, but that may WP:DICDEFy. There may be a case for a disambiguation (thus, my "oppose as proposed"), but I'm not seeing it at the moment. Steel1943 (talk) 00:48, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Striking out my official vote given the new trajectory of this discussion, and not knowing where I stand anymore. Steel1943 (talk) 18:12, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support some sort of move The primary topic of slackness is the lack of tension, a physical property, and should redirect there as a {{R from antonym}} -- 64.229.90.172 (talk) 02:56, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support clearly not primary topic by either criteria, move Slackness (disambiguation) to baseline. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:09, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also support this newly-created disambiguation page. This discussion clearly indicates that there are many possible meanings for "slackness", and there is no strong argument for keeping the current primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 15:53, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support and move the DAB to the base name, no clear primary topic so the DAB seems the best choice rather than a redirect to Slacker or Work ethic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:20, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I do not think this is the primary topic, and I would support moving the DAB page to the base name as proposed above. Aoba47 (talk) 18:01, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I added Slackness (disambiguation) to the move request, since it has now been created add has now been referenced multiple times, including by the nominator who supports moving it. Steel1943 (talk) 18:12, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
