Revert[edit]

All the 10 sources given are neutral and international BBC,Amnesty International,Sri Lankan newspapers, including an academic journal all are non Tamil reverting after adding the 10th one BBC.Only stating facts saying he is missing and karuna kidnapped him all independent sources Amnesty ,BBC say this.Harlowraman 05:16, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree 100%, not even one non RS source has been used to make that comment. In Wikipedia we dont have to prove anything, simply have to stae with RS sources what others say in a neutral manner. Also this is the second time people are following you around and tagging your new creations with dispute tags. Is it misuse of new article patroling tool? We seriously have to look at that via an ANI and RFC if this continues. It is one thing to have differences of opinion about a subject but that's why we have talk pages to discuss. The comments like Karuna raped him directed at the editor also violates no personal attack. Number of violations, tool, civility and prsonal attack all in one edit, which is very unusual for the editor known for his neutrality. We need to maintain civility to be able to contribute to this project. Thanks Taprobanus 14:09, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see any personal attacks done by me against any editor in specific. I hope anybody can see that I said i do not wonder if this article states that Raveendranath was raped by karuna. I have specifically said this article on my edit summary. And, as everyone knows, one article can be edited by many editors. Being neutral is up to the editors who edit this article. If not, they themselves may assume that certain comments are seemed to be personal attacks to them. Please see that I have no reason here to do a personal attack on anyone. The other thing is, I do not follow any edits of anyone. It is not necessary to follow edits since you guys were listing down every single article in the Wikiproject Human Rights in Sri Lanka. When considering the content issue, though the refs alleged towards the Karuna gang, this article was directly attacking the Karuna gang. I'm not Karuna fan nor paramilitary supporter and I too feel that this was done by them. So keep in mind that exceptional cases need exceptional sources. Unless the source states that karuna gang did this, no one say what he/she thinks in an article Thanks --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 10:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK my apologies, I changed it to alleged Taprobanus 15:07, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Raveen, I have did some changes to the article. While working on that I have noted that this article states [...]and he shifted there and lived with his daughter. :-D I have no idea how to re-write above sentence, so could you could you correct that? --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 16:32, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I dont know who Raveen is:( but I think we should re read the entire Fuad Asifs citation, I think it has all of it, unless I am missing something. Thansk Taprobanus 17:57, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Answers to your edits Snowolf please all except 1 are non Tamil sources[edit]

First Karuna being in the East I have added BBC citation if you want,I can added citations from SL government saying they have captured the emtire East and more.Daily mirror clearly states it that is area in colombo is one of the most highly guarded ones in Sri Lanka and even Amnesty says that it is one of the most tightly guarded areas in colombo and hence his disappearance became a major issue .Dr. M. Malaravan did mention that the Prof complain as the Sunday times article clearly states that he wrote to Gotabhaya Rajapaksa about threats to his life and I have put only that Dr. M. Malaravan said so .The history of the University is described briefly as is required to show that it has a history of trouble those are not orphaned statements like the Eastern University massacare.Even CID sources said that the threat was from Karuna adding that citation from the academic NASSL.Further SAR issued an appeal to Rajapakse.Harlowraman 01:05, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a biography article[edit]

This is not a biography article about Pr. Raveendranath. It's a Coat rack for Sri Lankan Civil War content. Either make this a proper biography article or merge it to a "list of people who disappeared in the Sri Lankan Civil Wars" (or whatever).

As it is, it's not even clear how this persn is notable. Circeus 01:13, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will improve the Biography part of it ie his career before the kidnap and re add the biography tag actully it focuses more on the Kidnap of the Prof.He is Vice Chancellor of a University in Sri Lanka which I feel makes him notable.Further his kidnap has caused an International outcry with amnesty International, human rights and Sri Lankan Media reporting it in a big way.Harlowraman 01:32, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The edit warring and protection of this article is unfortunate, all of the concerns raised by Snowulf could have been easily fixed without any edit warring. I think most of his concerns nad tags were valid and we had a good way to resolve them easily. I just did not see it yesterday also we have a life outside of Wikipedia too. About Circueus concern that this is not a biography is only partially correct. He becomes notable by him being forced disappeared, that too he being a vice chancellor of a major university in Sri Lanka makes it even more notable. See Reda Helal and Boris Weisfeiler. I would like to get a chance to work on this article section by section. Thanks Taprobanus 13:15, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Circeus if you think this article is about is bad, check out,
All non-notable people who were killed during the last 20 years in Sri Lanka. Pretty sure I missed quite a few too cos I just found these going through some of the related categories. Wikipedia appears to have become a obituary board / memorial of the Sri Lankan Civil War. --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 13:58, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You tried the delete [these articles] before and the wiki community decided that they are notable. Also only two people voted to delete them at one ofthem changed their vote another is your friend. Enough said about POV pushing here, this is trying to censor wikipedia and using it as a battleground. Thanks Taprobanus 15:09, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with the article[edit]

Per Circeus, using the friggin' :) talk page instead of edit summaries, --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 13:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • What happened to this edit? Blanked to hide the fact that his family doesn't know who kidnapped him? [1]
    • Keep the blanked section
  • Who says the TMVP kidnapped Balasukumar? [2]
  • Who's doing the questioning here? [3]
    • Find attribution or delete and remove information about eastern university massacre
  • Blanking the fact that he may have chosen to disapper himself? [4]
    • Leave the blanked section
  • "but no attempts has been made to question or arrest the prime suspect Colonel Karuna who is in government controlled territory" - probably one of the most POV sentences on Wikipedia [5]
    • remove NPOV sentence
  • What does a massacre in 1990 have to do with this case? Editors trying to make the readers of this article think there is a connection between the two incidents? [6]
    • remove sentence
Al these can easily be fixed Taprobanus 13:59, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Tagged the article. Sarvagnya 09:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Scholars at risk[edit]

I think they are an important part, if jouranlsuits are at ris RSF talkas about them and when in raere cases acadmics get in trouble ATR becomes an important voice for them. Thanks 17:42, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
