Image Alignment[edit]

Request the users to please align the Image (Shani Deva statue) in this article, at the moment it's not properly aligned. I wish I knew how to do it but I don't know how to upload images here or edit them. Thank You. Indpros (talk) 07:53, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

touch ups[edit]

- I think the last paragraph needs some touching up. Novium 08:41, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Can anyone locate online excerpts of "Shani Mahatmya" ? Readers would benefit a lot from reading this text.

- What the hell? I finally found Shani Mahatmya online and the link has been taken off. I understand that it is a Tripod site (and contains pop-ups) but it is not my personal site. I really think that the link is invaluable and would help countless others who are suffering afflictions due to badly-placed Shani.

Otherwise, I think a new Wikipedia article featuring a direct translation of Shani Mahatmya could be created for the benefit of others.

- Rashi doesn't mean moonsign, it means "zodiac". Moonsign is the zodiac in which moon is present.

-The link for Rashi is wrong in the entire document. Please correct it to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyoti%E1%B9%A3a#R.C4.81shis_.E2.80.93_the_zodiac_signs

-I've added a bit more information to the Shani Mahatmya section. There is a link but it is the Marati version of Shani Mahatmya. Drekir (talk) 18:30, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

re: merger[edit]

I support the merger of Shaneeswaran in Shani. While both the articles reflect to one and the same deity, the latter captures the essence more vividly, is quiet detailed and is also the more popular term used to refer to this deity. Tarun2k (talk) 16:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all it is to be noted that Pronouns in Tamil and Malayalam end with "N". Globally known names would be more opt for Wikipedia adaption. So Shaneeswaran actually should be called Shaneeswara and refers to Shani. Therefore both the articles refer to the same deity.

Clean up[edit]

Oh boy. This article needs a clean-up; especially the "Shrines of Lord Shani" section. When introducing a non-English word use italicize it; don't use quotation marks. Also it's generally better to avoid parenthetical translations and the "word (=translation)" format is not acceptable at all. There's a lot of interesting information in here but some of it seems to be from the perspective of the believer. For instance, I changed "There are other types of cases where Aatmas (spirits) of the deceased have occupied the sufferer's body causing misery and trouble." to "There are other types of cases where it is believed that Aatmas (spirits) of the deceased have occupied the sufferer's body causing misery and trouble" in order to reflect a more neutral point of view. Additionally, it would be great to have a sourced description of the statue rather than a statement that it is beautiful, mighty, etc. Also, a picture would be really helpful. In fact this article needs a lot more citations all around. I'm going to bed now but I plan to help fix this article tomorrow. I'm going to concentrate strictly on language for now. --24.254.194.26 (talk) 05:11, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

God of Justice[edit]

@SKJ96: You keep adding God of Justice to this article. Do you have a reliable source for it? Please note that regional Hindus use this epithet for other deities. For example, Bhairava (Shiva) is the God of Justice in the Himalayan region, per page 31, William S Sax (2009), God of Justice: Ritual Healing and Social Justice in the Central Himalayas, Oxford University Press. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 01:57, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SKJ96: I reverted your latest attempt to add the same content. It is a copyvio of the blogs and non-RS websites you cited. You violated both WP:Copyvio and WP:RS guidelines of wikipedia. Please do not continue to edit war in this article, and ignore the suggestions with the last 31 hour block of your edit privileges by admin EdJohnston. @Diannaa: do we need to hard delete the copyvio by @SKJ96? Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 00:02, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

yes; I've gone ahead and done that. Thanks for the report. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:14, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Last Edit from Braminji108 that was reverted[edit]

It is against the censensus of the site to include personal sources, and I am assume by his user name and the name of the website that this is the case. Thus, this is why I think it was reverted. DNocterum (talk) 13:36, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
