I unfortunately don't have the time to see this through (been very busy with writing a thesis & now about to travel), but this article should probably be deleted. The word شاعر šāʻir in Arabic just means 'poet'. It's not a specific kind of poet, like, for example, troubadour, or a poet of a particular era or even literary tradition. As the article currently stands, it's rather like having an article for the English word Poet, but only describing what we know about the role of the Old English poet in Anglo-Saxon society. The sources, too, aren't really the right kind of support for this topic. I think that probably this article should just be a pointer to Arabic poetry, under which there is a section Arabic poetry#Pre-Islamic poetry. That section seems to be drawn exclusively from one source, but it's more detailed and better fits scholarly perspectives. There's quite a lot of good scholarship on the poetry of the Jahiliyyah, including on the poets themselves. Certainly an article on the authors of one the world's great classicised poetic traditions shouldn't be 50% composed of a description of a D&D class. Pathawi (talk) 17:31, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
