Homologation?[edit]
Who calls this a homologation? A homologation is a reaction (or a sequence of reactions) which converts a molecule RX, containing a functional group X, to a chain-extended (+ CH2) derivative RCH2X, still containing the same functional group X ("homo" = "the same"). Conversion of an aldehyde into an alkyne is no homologation, even if the carbon chain is extended. 134.130.101.232 (talk) 17:08, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
