Reference[edit]

I wonder if someone could provide a more precise reference (for example, an ISBN) for this source, listed in the bibliography: Alasdair Roberts: Regensburg and the Scots, Aberdeen 2005. I can't find it in WorldCat, and Google only dredges up this page and its mirrors. What is it? (Brochure? Journal article)? Thanks, --Javits2000 17:44, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is a booklet published by Blair's College, Aberdeen. At any rate, an enquiry at their library would be the first step towards finding it. --Doric Loon (talk) 14:43, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, who did this, even much longer then the German version 84.57.120.254 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 16:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Curious if there is any information on the economic arrangements for this abbey. Family research in Niederbayern along the Isar mentioned schottische kloster and a klostergasse. It would be interesting to understand if there were the land holdings and whether they were transferred to the state or the church in 1862.2Crocus (talk) 22:34, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Irish nationalism much?[edit]

Noticed the article's been edited quite heavily by an Irishman to diminish Scottish influences. The correct term for Gaels is Gaels as they wound up both Irish and Scottish and predate both modern peoples and the overlap between the Gaels of Scotland and Ireland was rather powerful, not diminishing until at least the Highland Clearances. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.131.154.5 (talk) 17:37, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Schottenkirche St. Jakob Innenraum Unten.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on May 25, 2017. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2017-05-25. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 02:06, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Scots Monastery, Regensburg
The Scots Monastery is the former Benedictine Abbey of St James in Regensburg, Germany. It was founded in the 11th century by Irish missionaries and for most of its history was in the hands of first Irish, then Scottish monks. It has been used as a seminary for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Regensburg since 1862.Photograph: Richard Bartz
