Scargill (disambiguation)Scargill – No primary topic, though the current target gets way more views, Scargill, County Durham is a full match and there is also Scargill House on the DAB. The place in County Durham was originally at plain "Scargill". When I Google Scargill, Scargill House is the 2nd result. The surname also derives from the place in Yorkshire. • The hamlet is the only article that is a full match, so the undiscussed move of 2010 should be reversed and the hamlet moved back to Scargill. As a redirect, it's currently averaging only 1 hit/day, which are probably coming from the 3 incoming wikilinks that all intend to point to the hamlet. As second best, support as proposed. Station1 (talk) 19:39, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. No primarytopic; not even the hamlet. Dicklyon (talk) 04:12, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:25, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom - no clear primary topic. Move disambiguation page to basename. Paintspot Infez (talk) 18:37, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. None of the choices listed are titled with just the word "Scargill". --Comment by Selfie City (talk about my contributions) 23:44, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Clear primary redirect to Arthur Scargill as already. Very commonly known only by his surname. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:46, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Far more likely that anyone searching with "Scargill" is looking for Arthur Scargill than for any of the obscure topics names "Scargill". Nom even concedes it "gets way more views". Clear primary topic per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. --В²C 20:16, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Gets way more views for Arthur Scargill, not Scargill, those views don't tell us what people searching for the plain name are looking for and as Station1 notes all 3 links to Scargill are for the hamlet, not Arthur. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:07, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We tend to not refer to people by surname only in WP articles, so it's no surprise and rather meaningless that there are no instances of links of to Scargill meaning the person. What's relevant here is how likely people searching for the person are to enter just the surname Scargill. That's hard to measure, but given the rarity of the name it has to be true that it's quite common to do so. Googling for Scargill or searching books with it returns gobs of info about the person, very little about the places. --В²C 21:24, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's because its normal and natural both on WP and here not to use singular names for people. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:17, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Scargill is one of those names like Disraeli, Thatcher, Mandela etc. that can easily exist on its own, and unlike Trump, the other uses are minor and insignificant in comparison. Moving this wouldn't help readers.  — Amakuru (talk) 14:44, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
