Cleanup[edit]

I cleaned up this dab page as follows:

  • Removed links that don't conform to the manual of style, ie, no fahrenheit scale, HO scale, or other definitions that were only included because they contained the word scale;
  • Made links, dashes, commas consistent throughout;
  • Removed headers and the TOC (the article is short enough now that it's not necessary); and
  • Removed the cleanup tag. Bry9000 (talk) 06:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Libra[edit]

In talk:£sd there is an unsigned comment to the effect that the link from Librae currently points to the page for Libra (zodiac sign) which they didn't feel was right. I wanted to suggest pointing it to the Scales page instead but the article doesn't currently mention that the Latin word Librae means 'scales'. I can't make the edit to this page myself as I don't have a Latin dictionary to cite. Could someone else do the honours, please? I will go ahead and try to update the link on the £sd page. Scale, as in "work for scale"[edit]

Should there be an entry for "scale" as used in the entertainment industry and entertainment reporting, as the minimum amount an actor can be paid for work on a project?--Jeff (talk) 17:21, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

scale of a decimal number[edit]

JohnBlackburne you just removed the scale of a decimal number. That's really bad, the info was lost. the scale of a decimal number is the number of digits at the right side of the decimal point. Jackzhp (talk) 19:49, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I refer you to the guideline for disambiguation pages. Disambiguation pages are not articles, just navigations aids to help readers find the correct article. So entries should be links, to articles, that a reader could plausibly be looking for. Normally something called 'scale', in the case of this page. the line you added had no such link, and there was nothing obvious to link it to. A decimal number does not normally referred to that way.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 19:59, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
JohnBlackburne you are a programmer and a mathematician, so 123.456789, there are 6 digits at the right side of the decimal point, what is the name for this 6? Jackzhp (talk) 22:04, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have never heard or read it called 'scale'. It is to do with the precision of a number, whether by the number of significant figures or the number of decimal places. The 6 is at a particular position in the number, the third after the decimal point. None of those is 'scale'.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 22:14, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
