Claims of 'most powerful phone' biased[edit]

The claims of power are based off of processor speeds, and do not take into account overall performance. AnandTech geekbench tests put iphone4s way ahead of the S2. This is likely due to the iphones more advance gpu, and better optimized os. [1] 96.18.192.26 (talk) 00:41, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"This is likely due to the iphones more advance gpu, and better optimized os."
That's just WP:POV unless you care to offer a reference or proof.

Sorry, thought I linked a reference, biased might not be the correct term as the galaxy came out bout a month before the 4s. http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/10/12/iphone4s-faster-than-galaxys2-iphone4-performance-benchmarks-show/ http://www.anandtech.com/show/4951/iphone-4s-preliminary-benchmarks-800mhz-a5-slightly-slower-gpu-than-ipad-2 96.18.192.26 (talk) 02:43, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which particular part of the article are you taking issue with? Surely not that one sentence about the Motorola Atrix and the UK's Advertising Standards? Very confused, because this (a) doesn't claim the Galaxy S2 is the most powerful phone, and (b) was several months before the iPhone 4S release... – Steel 03:00, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How can an 800Mhz dual core possible stack up against a dual core 1.5Ghz behemoth like the Galaxy or Sensation XE ? It can't. EVER.

Only Apple fanboy sites lie otherwise. Just accept that your 4S is outdated and and performed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.30.14.128 (talk) 11:19, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update 1st March[edit]

Can't find any evidence that Samsung have ever announced the update to Android 4.0 to be released 1st March 2012. Certainly not in any of the cited references. Looks like the March 1 date was speculation from a single pundit, that spread as a rumour. Have changed to 'first quarter' in the article, as this is cited in the existing references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.174.192.6 (talk) 15:55, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tethering[edit]

Nothing in the article about this. Will update myself eventually but it will take a while. Jenova20 12:07, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Echo Issue regarding some S2 phones when they have a Protective Cover case on

I think this needs to be talked about not only because its a fault but because samsung know about the fault and deny its there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.169.232.245 (talk) 14:04, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was asking if the phone could be tethered and create remove internet hotspots (which it can).
I don't know anything about the problem you're having. Jenova20 11:32, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What happened? Thinking of reverting to 08:12, 13 March 2012‎ Kyral (talk | contribs)[edit]

What happened to this page?
I'm thinking of reverting it back to 08:12, 13 March 2012‎ Kyral (talk | contribs),
the last SIGNED IN change to the page, if not earlier.

I view it in Firefox, with a plenty large enough screen, but the tables in "Launch and availability" look like a very bad mess. It's got sloppy written all over it. I'll wait for late tonight in case one of the SIX anonymous editor can fix his/her mistakes.

Your open contempt for IP users has no place here. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:32, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Launch and availability[edit]

The tables are out of alignment and overlapping. Can someone fix this? Thanks Jenova20 09:16, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive detail on Launch and availability[edit]

The "Launch and availability" section has way too much detail. The exact launch date of the phone in each and every country is not encyclopaedic. Wikipedia is not a directory, it is not a train/plane/phone spotters hangout - that's what Wikia is for. This section could be cut down drastically leaving some basic summaries of dates e.g. from x to y; together with information which model is available where. Assuming there aren't any violent objections I'll have a go at it in a few days time. --Biker Biker (talk) 09:57, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Factual error on the number of buttons?[edit]

I started out thinking all I needed to know is that my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S II, and came here for clarity when I discovered that there's more to it than that. What I found here helped, but I see a problem: It says in this section that "The Sprint variant features four touch-capacitive buttons as opposed to the three-button hardware/capacitive combination found on the international version". Now, I dunno from touch-capacitive, but inside the battery case my phone claims to be an SPH-D710 and it has just three buttons: an on-off on the upper right side, and two volume buttons on the upper left. I'm not prepared to "correct" the text because I may have misunderstood, but maybe someone else can fix it, if it's wrong. RHBridges (talk) 05:17, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity in the description[edit]

I started out thinking that "Samsung Galaxy S II" is a complete description of my phone; I came here for clarity after I discovered that there's more to it than that. What I found here helped, but one part of the text here is confusing and perhaps mistaken:

First sentence: "The Sprint variant (Model SPH-D710) of the Galaxy S II was initially released as the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch and was later renamed to the simpler Galaxy S II 4G."

Last sentence: "The Galaxy S II 4G is touchscreen-only device, unlike the Epic 4G, which includes a physical QWERTY keyboard."

According to the first sentence, the Galaxy S II 4G is the Epic 4G. I looked elsewhere in the article and "Epic" describes only this model. Maybe the writer mean to say "...unlike the [some other model]"?

Someone is tolling[edit]

"However, on the Telstra and Optus version of this phone it is possible to remove to old processor and replace it with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which supports Telstra's new 4G+. Also, if you root this phone, an app can be installed from the Google Play Store which can increase the pixel density to quad HD which is on par with LG's LG G3. Note that this can only be done on the GT-I9210T model and no other versions of the Galaxy SII." I'm not a contributor to Wikipedia but who every is, can you fix it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.129.121.3 (talk) 20:47, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
