Highest navigable river in the world[edit]

It either is or it isn't. The last sentence in the first paragraph needs to be changed, dropping "it has been described as.." The sources listed (United States Forrest Service and Foder's) seem to be sufficient. This is incorrect, though locals may claim it's true. There are many rivers that can be navigated higher than the St. Joe. What they are really saying is that the St Joe is the navigable river with the highest mouth. This is also not true.

Even the nearby Flathead River in Montana is both navigable and higher elevation at the mouth and at its head of navigation. While you may claim this is assisted by Flathead dam, there are several Rivers in British Columbia that are higher. These include the: Babine River Middle River Pack River (commercially navigated before dam, mouth now inundated) Finlay River (commercially navigated before dam, mouth now inundated)

There are also rivers in Africa which are as navigable and higher at the mouth, including:

Luapula River Kazinga Channel Okavango River Chobe River
