"... it is notable for featuring guitars tuned to D rather than E." How is this notable? There are thousands and thousands of songs with detuned guitars, not to mention unorthodox tunings. - Quirk 09:14, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, most of the Metallica song's before then were in standard tuning (EADGBe), though I am no expert. This statement may have some relevance, as Metallica came to introduce alternate tunings in much of their future works. Again, if I am wrong, I apologize. "It is one of Metallica's first attempts at tuning down guitars, in this case, tuning down to D standard." Metallica used dropped-D tuning (DADGBE) on "The Thing That Should Not Be" on Master of Puppets. Jhaselden (talk) 14:41, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Tracks[edit]

"Sad But True is one of 5 songs released off the cd Metallica (commonly referred to as the Black Album)..."

How is this so? Metallica has 12 songs on it, not 5. Cparker 18:03, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is one if the 5 songs released as a single from the album. -- Marcika 13:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thrash Metal?[edit]

I dont think this song qualifies as thrash, its best defined as simply heavy metal.

You could argue that the song is post-thrash, but I suppose the current definition works as well, if not better.72.195.182.192 20:59, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed this is not a thrash metal song. Thrash Metal typically has a fast tempo and this song sits around 96 bpm Raistlinx17 (talk) 18:40, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is more groove metal than anything. Notice the heavy but slow, pounding riff, this sounds more like Pantera than Metallica. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.30.251.149 (talk) 18:55, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sad But True is definitely a groove metal song, as is a lot of the album. I think that thrash metal and groove metal need to be added to the genre of Metalica(the album.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iron Wizard13 (talkcontribs) 03:16, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Release date[edit]

Well, actually Sad but True was released 1991 and not 1992, wasn't it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.178.242.162 (talk) 15:02, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

08/02/93 was when it was released in the US as a single. The album itself was released in 1991 Raistlinx17 (talk) 18:32, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

James Hetfield plays bass?[edit]

Why the hell does it say James Hetfield plays bass on this song, i've removed it, since there's no source for it. --Chickenguy13 (talk) 10:20, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other Cultural References[edit]

I believe this song was used as a wrestling intro, according to some brief internet searching Rey Mysterio Jr. Could we include this info similar to how pop culture references are mentioned for video games / movies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.227.5.2 (talk) 16:08, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
