Future Updates[edit]

Conte di Savoia never clenched the Blue Riband but she got the honor to do so before Rex and was quite close. I believe she was the first to set a record crossing from Italy to New York before the Rex though. Remember the Rex suffered engine troubles on her maiden voyage. The Conte di Savoia performed exceptionally well on her sea trails and was favored to win the Blue Riband. It just happens that Conte di Savoia was probably the faster vessel but the Rex was the lucky one to be able to capture the Blue Riband. Winning the Riband is more than just being the faster ship as weather plays a large role in it. Or else the Queen Mary would have easily captured the Blue Riband from Normandie on her maiden voyage.

Article focuses to much on her stabilizers rather than than her novel interior decor. She was the first major liner where the shipbuilder (Constanzi) and lead interior designer (Pulitzer) collaborated. Through and through she was a modern vessel and a precursor to Normandie. In fact her owners, Lloyd Sabuado were afraid that this new style may have been too much and commissioned her ballroom to be in a more classical and ornate style, much to the disappointment of Pulitzer.

There's no mention of the novel but failed experiment of the Special Class (First Class minus, Tourist Class plus) on Rex and Conte di Savoia. By the time they were merged into Tourist Class, these two ships probably had the best mid-tier accommodations on the North Atlantic.

She was considered for salvage after WWII as she was in a better condition compared to her consort Rex. Though fires ravaged her upper decks, she was sunk on an even keel. What exactly happened during those closing days to her is still unclear though it is generally accepted she was bombed and scuttled by the retreating German forces. I believe CGT (French Line) considered restoring her but later opted for Europa. Italia then considered making her a one class immigrant liner to South America but the associated costs were too costly and it was decided to build new ships that were mid-sized. Italia learned that the superliners generated mediocre profits compared to their slower mid-sized vessels such as motor-ships Saturnia and Vulcania. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LionheartPnshmnt (talkcontribs) 02:14, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
