Rail links[edit]

This is one of the many coastwise vessels owned and operated by railroad subsidiaries to link their lines with major coastal cities. The ownership relationships are extremely complex in some cases. In this case the ownerships in the info box are all railroad linked, actually apparently the same rail company under its different guises, up until the end of commercial operation. Any rail people with a love for untangling corporate relationship puzzles can find a rich project in this and other coastal steamships and companies from the 1850s through WW II.
