SS Vesta[edit]

Strangely enough the page SS Vesta has been deleted and redirected here, because no information was found about it. The SS Artic collided with another boat, there should be a page about it whatever the name was.

There is easily sufficient info on Vesta to create a stub, which I will do as soon as I'm done with the disaster article. Brianboulton (talk) 20:45, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Stub now created. Brianboulton (talk) 22:16, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article upgrade[edit]

I have improved the article based on reliable literature relating to the Arctic. My main project is a detailed account and analysis of the sinking, and a link to this subarticle will be added shortly. Brianboulton (talk) 08:42, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Muted encouragement. Please do not get carried away. This is meant as an encyclopedia article, not a book chapter, and no original research. Choor monster (talk) 14:39, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Brian has dozens of featured articles and is quite familiar with every aspect of article creation. Kablammo (talk) 20:21, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tonnage[edit]

The tonnage figure given in the Shaw book almost certainly is tons burthen as calculated in the US, as that was the method of measuring tonnage, which is not a measure of mass. Kablammo (talk) 20:21, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shaw does not mention tons burthen, but he does say "2,856 tons by American custom house measurement". I have altered the links in this and in the article on the disaster. Thanks for pointing this out. Brianboulton (talk) 20:43, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
