Untitled[edit]

To Djln, I have seen your edits on this article, and having done some research for the German language Wikipedia on the former Hakoah Vienna players who played in the US (like Erno Schwarcz, Leopold Drucker or Jozsef Eisenhoffer) I would like to point out a few things:

  • Nickolsburger started his career at Ferencvárosi TC, but he didn't stay there until 1925. He left Budapest in 1922 to join Makkabi Brno in Czechoslovakia, a club that was unique, as it's team consisted almost exclusively of Hungarian Jews.
  • He joined Hakoah Vienna in March 1927, most likely coming from Italy, but I didn't find out much more about this other than the RSSSF-link that you included. The point is, he wasn't with Hakoah Vienna on their first US tour in 1926 with Guttmann, so he didn't decide to stay at this time. Hakoah Vienna's second US tour took place in April/May 1927 and Nickolsburger was signed shortly before this tour and he played in several games on the tour, scoring twice against the NY Giants. After that he returned to Vienna and started the 1927/28 season with the Vienna club. I have found no information on what he did in 1928 prior to joining NY Hakoah.
  • He didn't end his playing career in 1931, but also played in the abandoned spring ASL season of 1932, his last game of which I was able to find a record of was on June 12, 1932 against the Bohemian Americans, but there may have been even later games.

  • I will reedit the article to reflect the above new info. Djln --Djln 20:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, his date of birth doesn't seem to be correct. Considering that he played internationally in 1920, he would have been 11 years old. --62.178.84.9 07:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This seems more likely. --62.178.84.9 14:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
