Two versions of I Will?[edit]

I'll keep looking myself but can anyone provide authoritative comment re whether Winters recorded a version of "I Will" subsequent to the 1973 version? I've sort of skated over the issue in my revision of the article and I've left the chart data that evinces two distinct recordings but I can't find any official corroboration, and for Creole Records to have simply acquired and given release to the 1973 track seems more logical than for Creole to have gone to the time and trouble of having Winters re-record the song. And as I've input into the article Winters had by 1977 seemingly removed herself from the recording scene. (I realize that logical or not Winters remaking her 1973 track for Creole is possible, but that scenario shouldn't simply be assumed.) MusicVf.com which I believe is reputable does indicate two recordings of "I Will" but identifies the 1973 track with the 1977 UK Top Ten hit, while positing the 1978 US R&B "hit" - at #97 - as a "new version". I really am amazed that an almost complete unknown American singer stormed the UK charts in 1977 with a song - and perhaps recording - that was several years old and the music press doesn't seem to have considered it worthy of any comment! Any way - if there is no authoritative statement on the provenance of any or all of Winters' recordings of "I Will" perhaps the "re-recording" fine print should be removed from the article's chart.--Cherrylimerickey (talk) 01:40, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Provenance of cuts on Early Winters compilation[edit]

Well then - perhaps someone has info on the tracks on the compilations Early Winters aka Forever My Darling and also The Best of Ruby Winters which were not released as singles: I think there's a good chance these were recorded in the early 1970s for Certron or the Cutlass Records' Hot Line label and if anyone can provide either a year or producer for these tracks that should confirm their provenance enough for at least tentative inclusion in the discography. And I'm still hoping for clarification on whether Winters' made a second recording of "I Will"!--Cherrylimerickey (talk) 22:35, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
