I believe this is correctly a sub-species, not a species. Correcting accordingly. Cyclopaedic 08:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really classified Critically Endangered as the box shows? It's not listed on the Critically Endangered page and this seems inconsitent with the description in the text of Conservation Dependent. Cyclopaedic 18:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New evidence points to this being a separate species. The page has been updated to reflect that. As far as its endangered status, as of December 21, 2007, this is currently under review by an International Giraffe Working Group (IGWG). Its evidence will inform the IUCN Red List of threatened and endangered species according to [BBC article].

Name[edit]

Is the Rothschild's giraffe named after a member of the Rothschild family?
