Pardon[edit]

The pardon issued to the Groveland Four was inconsequential and politically risk-free. After an extensive search, I only found a few mentions of it after the month in which it was issued almost five years ago. There was no evidence of an actual crime, but one supposed perpetrator was tracked down to the Florida Panhandle and, after being found sleeping under a tree, was shot an estimated 400 times. Another youth whose conviction of the alleged offense had been pulled out of the Sheriff's auto while supposedly attempting to escape, and killed after a pair of those charged had their cases overturned on appeal. The other was shot by the Sheriff and escaped being murdered as well by playing dead after being grievously wounded. The two convicted survivors who were pardoned had been dead for decades before the pardon was issued. This was a pointless, politically risk-free gesture, well-received only by a few survivors of a couple of victims of the out-of-control, racist, 1940's law enforcement. You made this same change without consensus in April and it was discussed[1]. Nothing has changed since April. Nemov (talk) 15:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

unexplained emphasis on the Parental Rights Education Act[edit]

Why is there such a big emphasis on the passage of the Parental Rights in Education Act? Why is it mentioned in the top. There is plenty of bills, that have been passed during DeSantis's tenure, and this emphasis on the Parental Right Act is confusing. I'm proposing to delete that part Udehbwuh (talk) 15:58, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bills that get the most attention get the most coverage by reliable sources, and this is no different. It's become such a crucial part of his political career that it'd be like removing mention of the Affordable Care Act from the top of Barack Obama's page. Please, provide reliable sources, that would confirm, that the bill is the most significant, that was passed during DeSantis's tenure. Udehbwuh (talk) 09:41, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The amount of sources covering it is enough to show how significant it was, and if you can find similarly wide coverage of other bills feel free to add more sources. Harryhenry1 (talk) 10:05, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 22 January 2024[edit]

Change "Various writers have predicted that he could defeat Trump or said that he is preferable to Trump..." to "Various writers predicted that he could defeat Trump or said that he was preferable to Trump...".

As DeSantis' campaign has ended, using the perfect continious is no longer necessary, neither is stating that he is preferable to Trump. Ouroboros777 (talk) 19:12, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. Thank you, Ouroboros777. ~ Pbritti (talk) 19:16, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
