Rogue-related entries[edit]

SGCommand dropped me a note about spinning off more entries in realtion to the Rogiverse (sorry best I could come up with). So I thought I'd make a list as once we start to create various related entries some information is going to be needed also be added for background:

So thoughts and ideas? I can sketch out entries but it will take a bit ofwork to go through the various stories and see how they all fit in and there is probably the need for some fan speculation, etc. as some of the canon has never been fully explained. (Emperor 14:40, 6 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

OK all those entries are now created - if only as stubs for now. Feel free to expand them (I'll work on the relevant bibliographies and the like. I'll also drop the list into the 2000AD to do list). Other ideas for entries:
  • Rogue Trooper (games) - spun off from here to allow more focus on the various games
  • G.I. (comics) - to describe what G.I.s are. I thought G.I. worked best as it can stand for both Genetic Infantryman and Infantrywoman too. As we have varous entries for various prominent G.I.s it seems worth doing (when do link it into this disambiguation page G.I.)

OK that has all gone nicely. Next question is: Do we need a Rogue Trooper category in the same way we have a Judge Dredd one? I'd say yes as there are possibly a dozen entries now and this would drag them all together. Thoughts? (01:20, 16 May 2006 (UTC))

Merge with Friday?[edit]

Changes[edit]

Couple of things, I corrected Finley-Day's name in the infobox since it said Jeffery rather than Gerry. I also slightly amended the "immune to all chemical and biological attacks" to "Practically all" considering the plantform that affect Rogue at the polar zone and later in the Fall of Dix-1 storyline. It maybe seems a bit pedantic, but we might as well put more effort into it.

Graphic Novels[edit]

Is it worth putting in details about the graphic novels. For one thing it might help newcomers to the series. Especially when you consider the sheer number of reprints, it could help a newcomer know what books to pick up, it can also detail the books post "Traitor General" or classic Rogue era, which I am unfortunately ignorant of. It might also be worth mentioning the US Eagle Comics reprint of Rogue in colour and the reaction of fans to it. What do you all think. Douglasnicol 15:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Story Addition[edit]

I noticed that in the story section there is no mention of Rogue's biochip comrades and how their distinct personalities ultimately play a role in the storyline.

As the story progresses each of his comrade's personalities become more erratic due to their extended time as biochips.

Gunnar is the first one to exhibit a violent personality switch. To the point where is becomes occasionally aggressive to his fellow comrades and consistently looks forward to the destruction Rogue can create with him.

Bagman is the second one to go after being hit by a las shot. Although not destroyed his personality becomes much more erratic. To the point where the other biochips believe that he is insane. Rogue discovers during a maintenance check that Bagman's protein base is slowly decomposing because of the las shot and it will eventually result in a personality wipe. This becomes a minor story arc within itself.

Helm is the last to exhibit strange behavior after volunteering himself to take the brunt of a grenade that lands near Rogue. After it is revealed that it is a dud, Bagman proclaims how his actions made him a hero. From there on he begins to display a much more braggart personality, much to the chagrin of the others.

Actually, iirc Bagman's chip is decomposing just due to a design defect which Rogue believed [sic] "The genies has licked this problem" - but obviously not. I'm also pretty sure that after Helm volunteers to cover the grenade ("An eighty-eight - it's the one the Norts hate!") it's never mentioned again, and falls into the single-story plotlines, especially as the beginning of the story emphasized the other biochips usefulness, and Helm's apparent lack of role. a_man_alone (talk) 09:33, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with the above. Bagman's chip problem seem to suddenly disappear. I've got all the graphic novels printed and I don't recall it being mention again. Gunnar always had a more aggresive and competitive personality as shown in Milli-Com Memories. Helm's behaviour also stems from this story and later in the Venus Bluegenes story. I think it was the writers effort to give a distinct personality to what were after all cloned soldiers. Observe Major Magnam for instance being the disciplinairian type. You know, I almost quoted Millicom Memories myself up above, except that it's a flashback story, so the writers had already by then established (for example) Gunnar's aggression, so it was easy to implement it in the past. I was thinking more of The Marauders, when Gunnar is more enthusiastic about being used by the local hitman, whose name I forget right now. Millicom Memories did bring up the subject of clones all showing different traits - both physical and mental. There was a section about Venus Bluegenes, where another female GI was shown - introduced as "Betty" - who was almost as physically muscled as the male GI's. a_man_alone (talk) 06:24, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updated links to new stories[edit]

Since there has been discussion about the various spin-off characters, its seems correct to at least mention them and link to them all in a separate section, which has been started with the Jaegir section but does not include the 86ers. Basically it is neccessary to start a new section so that we can keep track of these Nu-Earth tie-ins as they continue. The Nu-Earth page can then list them all in detail. GI Official names on Millicom[edit]

The text currently says "Rogue's original name is "GI44", that is, Genetic Infantryman 44." I'm not sure this is correct. ISTR that Rogue's prefix was "R", and Gunnar, Bagman & Helm each (by some weird coincidence) had "G", "B" & "H" as their prefix. So Rogue would have been "R44" and the others "Gxx", "Bxx" and "Hxx" respectively. I must dig out my progs when I get chance. Chaheel Riens (talk) 12:44, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2019 clean up[edit]

I've been making small edits to this article and to Jaegir, over the last six months or so in lieu of anyone else making updates. It seems to me that it is a good time to refresh the page. Primarily I'm scheduling an overhaul of the superfluous lists under Norts and Southers and combine this into a more general sampling of the universe as described in interviews and printed articles and NOT as an exercise in original research as it currently stands. Secondly, a clearer and lengthier set of descriptions of the content or plots of the various media would be useful, and technically replace with serial brevity what the current presentation of the Rogiverse tries to achieve.
