Much to add[edit]

In a visit to the nature center at Glencoe, I found a trove of Robert Kennicott's papers and specimens. Smithsonian in DC has more. --Wloveral (talk) 18:55, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, this recent article about the work the Smithsonian did to identify the true cause of his death and the subsequent addition of his skeleton to the Smithsonian collection would be nice to add. ^[1] Ryandsmith (talk) 17:14, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Naming of Alaska[edit]

I suppose this is trivia, but the docent at the Grove told me that initially the state of Alaska was to be named Kennicott, but that Mr. Kennicott didn't want it named after him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaxelrod (talk • contribs) 04:50, 9 February 2009 (UTC) Bold text[reply]

Corpse route[edit]

I added a mention of the long travel by his corpse to the family homestead and gravesite, per a poster I saw at the Grove last summer. However, I'm hundreds of miles away, so I hope someone can fix the citation.Jweaver28 (talk) 21:43, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
