This article was created or improved during the Oregon State University Black History Month Wikipedia Edit-a-thon with AfroCROWD, Wikimedia Nigeria and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, "Writing Black History into Wikipedia". The event was held at the OSU Valley Library on Feb. 8, 2019; some editors worked remotely during January–February.

Point of View/Neutrality[edit]

I placed the "neutrality" notice at the top of this article, though my concern might be fairly easy to address. The text in the article (as currently written) does not actually confirm that Mr. Folkes was wrongly convicted, only that this is suspected to be the case. The sources currently given in the article confirm the poor investigatory procedures and the usual corruption of the times, which are earlier in the process. If there is evidence of a truly wrongful conviction in professionally-researched historical sources, then that should be given in the article with full citations. If not, the lead paragraph should be adjusted to reflect that there is a suspicion but not confirmation. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 14:01, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
