Assuming he really is chairman of the Conservative Friends of Israel, and a Treasurer of the Conservative Party, and former Fundraising Chairman of the Variety Club Children’s Society (I haven't checked any of these claims), I should have thought those are all national positions of some significance, probably no single one of which brings notability but the combination of them, together with having been chairman of a company employing 2,000 people, probably just about does - certainly a good deal more notable than some of the transient Z-list celebs that Wikipedia seems to regard as notable. Once it is verified that he held those positions and the prominence of those positions is confirmed, then he would be notable. Dethlock99 (talk) 19:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Have done some digging, and the CFI and Tory Treasurer claims are true. Variety Club docs only mention him as Trustee. Turns out he is also a millionaire property developer; found a few press references, mostly to do with the latter. Not sure that that in itself makes him notable, but combined with the other things I think he probably is. Have tinkered with the text, which rather gave the impression at the outset that he wrote it himself, though I could be wrong. Hope it is now NPOV. Alarics (talk) 22:17, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
