This is not the first time I've made edits to this article (of which I am the subject), and I am painfully aware of Wikipedia's discouragement of biographical article subjects editing articles about themselves, but I wish to comment on the main change in phrasing I have made in this edit. When Bradley M. Kuhn initiated this article in late 2007, at which time we both worked at the Software Freedom Law Center, he described me as "a free software and open source lawyer". While I have tolerated this description up until now, I now consider such a label to be insufficiently precise or meaningful to be justifiable here. One may find the term "open source lawyer" in some minor use, but all it seems to mean is "a lawyer with some interest in legal issues arising in the context of open source software and related matters", or perhaps a lawyer who dabbles in work relating to open source in some way (which itself could mean many different and disparate things). I am not sure analysis of prevailing usage would support even something at that level of precision. It is also inaccurate, in that in my current role at Red Hat, in my previous role at SFLC, not to mention in the several years of active legal practice that preceded my employment at SFLC, my work has been far broader in scope than what I believe may be suggested by the phrase "a free software and open source lawyer". It occurs to me that someone might object to the uncited assertion "particularly known" (I recall using that phrase when I edited the article on SFLC some years ago, which resulted in some such objection), but I cannot see how the previous wording is better. In 1985, D. C. Fontana wrote one episode of the carton series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe titled "BattleCat". It is listed as episode 96 in the List of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe episodes, where you can see it was jointly written with Richard Fontana. This second writer's name is wikilinked to this article but this bio does not sound like that of a writer of a He-Man episode. I am wondering if any talk page readers know:

  1. Is this article's Richard Fontana the same one as is credited for writing the He-Man episode with D. C. Fontana?
  2. Are these two Fontana's related?

They also appear to have worked together on the episode "Planet of the Amazon Women" of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1979. I have read that D. C. Fontana chose the pseudonym Michael Richards based on the names of her brothers, so I wonder if the writer Richard Fontana is her brother. If this Richard Fontana is related to or connected with D. C. Fontana, that is certainly worth a mention. 172.195.96.244 (talk) 10:30, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(Disclosure: I am the Richard Fontana who is the subject of this article.)
  1. No.
  2. Probably not in any meaningful sense. Rfontana (talk) 15:03, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
