First term in parliament?[edit]

Where is the evidence that Catlin was MP for Norwich in 1625? Blomefield merely confirms that he was MP in the Long Parliament in 1640. Bayne's A Comprehensive History of Norwich agrees, though he may have been misread here. The book lists the MPs divided by the reign of the monarchs, and since Charles I began his in 1625, the grouping begins with that date. Still, Catlin and Harman are listed at the bottom, after Gleane and Debney, the MPs from 1628, as they (Catlin and Harman) served in the long parliament, which began while Charles was king (the short parliament with MPs Tooley and Atkins has been omitted). The House of Parliament's official history lists Hyrne and Denny as the MPs in 1625, and is by far the most authoritative and up-to-date source. Catlin sat for only one period in parliament, from his election in 1640 for the long parliament, until his disablement in 1644. 77.96.115.138 (talk) 15:45, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
