COI tag (May 2021)[edit]

WP:SPA Guy (help! - typo?) 10:45, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Guy. The COI tag is inappropriate. I have stated on my talk page that there is no COI. To my mind this issue has therefore been put to rest, and I had expected that my assurance would be sufficient for you to remove the tag. Out of respect I will allow some time for further discussion/engagement, but should there be none, my intention is to remove the tag, having carefully consulted the guidelines on when, and when not, to remove such tags. Furthermore, I wish to note that the suggestion that my account is an SPA – if that is indeed what you intended with the reference above – is quite simply not true. The Advert tag was added by Guy in May 2021, although the draft of this page was originally approved without it. I am thus requesting guidance from any Wikipedians who can assist, to highlight specific examples of language on this page that would have led to the addition of this tag, as it is not immediately apparent to me where the offending content is. Thanks in advance. Muonmo (talk) 13:34, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Berrely: I'm turning to you as you have previously had some involvement with this page, but I do apologise in advance if it's not appropriate to ask you directly for assistance. I have made every effort – consulting all the guidelines and reviewing the text repeatedly – to identify whatever it was that led Guy to add the Advert tag to this page, and I am completely at a loss. I am committed to making whatever changes are necessary to improve the quality of the page, but as I am unable to identify any alleged issues relating to advertising or promotion, it seems to me that a reasonable course of action would be to remove the tag. I would appreciate any guidance you can offer. Muonmo (talk) 15:00, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This article has always been abused for promotion by single-purpose accounts. It still reads like a PR piece, claiming notability by association. Example: he played with a non-notable member of the notable Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Almost nothing in this article rises above the level of the mundane for a jobbing performer. I know people who I would never add to Wikipedia who have had featured performances with internationally-renowned orchestras. This article has always had a strong whiff or resume-padding, in the tone of one who either knows the subject or is a fan. More likely the former.
