NPOV[edit]

Just discovered this article and I don't think it should be in the mainspace, a list of things that people have complained about the MCU for with no real balance or context violates WP:NPOV. Marvel Cinematic Universe already has a reception section that discusses some of the key issues here in a more appropriate way. I think we should move this back to the draftspace. It can potentially be reworked as a "Reception of the MCU" article that takes the existing reception section as a starting point. It wouldn't need to move to the mainspace until we decide that it makes sense to split that section off from the main article. - adamstom97 (talk) 00:06, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't given this a thorough look, but a general "reception" article could be appropriate to make its approach more neutral. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:54, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There doesn't seem to be too much interest in this page given the lack of responses, I suggest we send it back to the draftspace where it can be reworked unless there are objections in the next week (that seems like a reasonable time to me). - adamstom97 (talk) 00:52, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would tend to disagree with such a move. Moving it to a "Reception of" page and expanding the scope in that direction would be a better outcome. Articles should not be moved to draft space unless they fall short of qualifying for inclusion in mainspace at all, which is not the case here, given the reasonably substantial number of citations. Having a large number of citations does not mean an article is suitable for the mainspace. I agree that we could just move it now, but I'm not convinced that it would actually be updated to be a "Reception of" article anytime soon. If editors are interested in doing that work then that is great, but if not then it would be better to get this NPOV violation out of the mainspace and move it back once that work is done in draft. - adamstom97 (talk) 02:18, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alternatively, it's probably fine to move the article now but tag it with {{POV}}. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:18, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If going to wait a week anyway then would it be better to go AfD with draftify to make it official instead of informal discussion as article accepted in Articles for Creation process?

To me it doesn't make sense to draftify an article that was already accepted through AfC, I suggest you nominate at AfD. Pinging article author @NHCLS. --Cerebellum (talk) 11:13, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If this goes the AfD route, I'm fairly certain the consensus would be to keep it, so I think the best bet is to tag it, and then work on adjustments in a userspace or simply piecemeal here. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:59, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree that one of these steps would be to move the article to help signal the goal as to why this is not neutral. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:59, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it would make sense to move the article before it is expanded to include non-negative reception. I would not be opposed to a draftification, and I don't see how it is an issue just because it was approved by an AfC reviewer. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:58, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So I think we've agreed to tag it as NPOV, the question now is do we then move it to the draftspace or leave it in the mainspace when we move it to "Reception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe"? Either way, we can add in what we have at the MCU article and turn that section into a summary. - adamstom97 (talk) 23:38, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Someone went ahead and moved the page to "Reception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe" and there doesn't seem to be a strong will to draftify it, so I have just tagged it for now and we will see if it ends up getting cleaned-up in mainspace. - adamstom97 (talk) 20:10, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
