Look at the number of pages that link to ray tracing (graphics). Then look at how many link to ray tracing (physics). Then look me in the eye and try to tell me that the two articles are equally referenced.

When this page points to the DAB page instead of Ray tracing (graphics), you break a proper link from no less than 154 articles. Please do not point this page at the DAB. Timrb (talk) 13:04, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The correct solution to this problem is to fix the links that point to this page, so that they point at the article that was intended. --Srleffler (talk) 16:07, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, granted, that is a solution. On the other hand, I think 154 article references vs. 38 is enough to justify primary usage. Chances are much higher that a lazy link to [[Ray tracing]] will point to the right place if this page points to (graphics) instead of (DAB) or (physics). Also, fixing the links on 154 articles is a job that I don't think anyone is going to look forward to. Timrb (talk) 03:24, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know of many physics students that were looking up information on Ray tracing, but when they came to wikipedia, they saw the graphics article and looked puzzled. Of course I showed some of them the little {{otheruses|}} note at the top of the page, but none of them would have seen it on their own. I think that the DAB is correctly justified considering the usage of both articles (even if the graphics one has more wikilinks). Does anyone have access to WP:AWB, that should make fixing all the links a lot faster. -- penubag  (talk) 04:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, if I were able to preform "the job that no one is going to look forward to" would you guys approve? -- penubag  (talk) 04:40, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes.--Srleffler (talk) 23:03, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that this page should again be redirected to the dab page, to provide incentive for editors to fix the links and not to create new incorrect links.--Srleffler (talk) 23:07, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've requested a fix to this problem and now all of the links should be fixed. -- penubag  (talk) 07:42, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Broken links[edit]

Why does Ray tracing lead to the graphics page but Ray Tracing lead to the disambiguation page? Rhetorical question. I'll try to fix it. ThisIsMyWikipediaName (talk) 17:34, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because the editors of the graphics article haven't been able to get themselves organized to fix the links to ray tracing to point to the appropriate article. The physics links were fixed weeks ago. The graphics links should have been changed at the same time. Ray tracing redirects to the graphics article temporarily, to allow editors time to fix the links. I reverted your change to Ray Tracing, since there are no inappropriate links to that page right now.--Srleffler (talk) 22:59, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
