Fair use rationale for Image:RationalSoftware.gif

Image:RationalSoftware.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. R1000 Rational Environment

There was never a product named "R1000 Rational Environment". There was a programming environment referred to as "the Rational Environment" that ran on a series of machines, the first of which was called the R1000.

Chronology

This article provides a chronological account of Rational Software. Inserting a list of current products in the middle of this chronology makes no sense. If you must, append it to the rest of the spam at the end of the article.

Organization

"Rationale..." redirect?

Hello, I noticed an incorrect redirect while searching for software called Rationale (Search offers "Rationale Software" so I clicked it) but it leads here "Rational Software". I'll mark this page in my watchlist until I learn more about redirects and search field auto-populate. For now this Talk post will have to do. Although I'm eager to learn by doing, I also might not make it back here for a while... feel free to fix if you know how. Incidentally... www.austhink.com makes the one I'm thinking of. IBM Jazz Redirect

The page for "IBM Jazz" redirects here, yet this article makes no mention of Jazz, the platform IBM is using for newer versions of it's Rational Suite. Jazz is relatively substantial and at least deserves a reference or heading in this article (if not a link to a Main Page for it). The person who entered that redirect should either add a small section here (I would be I don't know enough about it) or they should eliminate to redirect and add "IBM Jazz" to the list of requested pages.Edwardmking (talk) 18:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Jazz was developed by IBM after IBM acquired Rational, and thus has no place in this article.

This is true but Rational didn't cease to exist after being acquired by IBM. This article is written in such a way that suggests that it did. If it isn't included in this article, then it still shouldn't redirect (and it should have it's own page). Otherwise, this article should include details of the life of Rational Software post acquisition. Either way, Jazz should have space on Wikipedia and shouldn't redirect to a page that doesn't even mention it.Edwardmking (talk) 13:53, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Rational Software absolutely ceased to exist after its acquisition by IBM. The organization was integrated into IBM, and its culture and strategy were replaced by IBM's culture and strategy.
