This image was used on the "Entertainers who performed for troops during the Vietnam War" category page; that category has been deleted. If the image isn't used somewhere, it will be deleted. I just thought you'd like the opportunity to make use of it; however, in a quick scan of the article, there doesn't seem to be a mention that she performed in USO shows in Vietnam.—DomBot talk ; Chidom talk, owner/operator. 19:58, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

This image lacks better source info. It's says it's from "Library of Congress Prints & Photographs Division.", but no link or refernce number is given, so the info can't be verified. As this image is very likely public domain, I will try to find it in the LOC website and update that info, and then, use the image. Marriage of Damon Welch & Rebecca Truman

I've updated the main article with more details of this wedding and Ms Welch's lateness - she was all over the cover of the UK's Daily Telegraph for doing this (I believe in 1991). I believe the admission that she was late on purpose came from either the Sunday Express Magazine or the Sunday Telegraph magazine around the time Welch was appearing in the stage play "The Millionairess" in the UK. I think this would have been the mid 90s but so far I haven't been able to track down the source. Appliance matt 11:14, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Was she born in Peru, or Chicago ?

Nude?

there is a line in the article that states that she never posed nude for any movie or magazine, but I have seen black and white candid fully nude picture from perhaps the early 70's, so wouldn't this be considered "posing nude"?

She was also nude in two films. I have removed the line. Anyone can obviously change it if they see fit, but I have referenced the films in the change notes. Go watch them if you don't believe me!--24.111.183.32 (talk) 05:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Irish American ?

A few sources have stated that Raquel Welch is of Irish ancestry on her mothers side without providing details, sources etc.

Checking rootsweb.com, I've found that much of her maternal lineage has been traced back to early New England families and,further back,to seventeenth century English settlers.The European heritage of some of her other maternal ancestors is not clear but no Irish surnames are evident. Her mothers people have been in the USA for many generations.

Without more solid evidence, I don't think that it is appropriate to list her as Irish-American. Burawick (talk) 21:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

This is very true, there are many books and sources stating that she has Irish roots..this may be true, but ive only seen her stat that her mother was 'Anglo' and that her heritage goes back to John Adams....who had english roots....if she has irish roots she hasnt mentioned it at all. she has stated that her father is a bolivian of spanish descent but this has been reverted for some reason as not vadid enough, even though she stats this in a 2010 interview, see the sources that can be read. Proposal to Include Latina as Ms. Welch's Ethnicity

Per an 11 June 2002 New York Times article, I propose that Raquel Welch's ethnicity include the term Latina.

"'Latinos are here to stay,' she told her audience at a National Press Club luncheon last month. 'As citizen Raquel, I'm proud to be Latina.'"[1]

Not latin hispanic, The father is spanish for Europe(White)
Yes, Ms. Welch's father is Bolivian, of Spanish descent. But this article is not about her father, it is about Raquel Welch. She has plainly stated in a New York Times interview that she self-identifies as "Latina." I believe this should be stated in her Wikipedia article: in the infobox, introduction, or a section of its own (perhaps, all 3).[2],[3] MiztuhX (talk) 21:15, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Infobox has "California, United States" and article text "Chicago, Illinois". Is there actual evidence for California? The text suggests she moved later to California. Trivia Change.

I removed the trivia bit about Raquel appearing on Monty Python.

Whereas Raquel is mentioned several times on Monty Python’s Flying Circus … she never appeared on the show. The episode with Ringo Starr also featured Lulu, not Raquel. What image should we choose?

Recently I've noticed that a lot of people have been switching the image for Welch. Which should we use? I'm hoping we can settle this here first. 3rd image is my preferred one personally. It still represents Welch in a relative period of primeness, and it has a much better resolution than other images, especially when compared to the 1976 image InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 18:11, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
None your options are good. IMO this one is the most fitting File:Raquel_Welch_in_The_Biggest_Bundle_of_Them_All.jpg. Infobox photo needs to be from an era of her peak popularity/power. Other people also shouldn't be in the photo.IceFrappe (talk) 20:06, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Black and white vs. colored shouldn't be a consideration at all. When an older person is living, the infobox photo is always the most recent photo (colored). As soon as that person dies, the infobox photo immediately gets changed to photo of his/her at peak popularity (often black and white). Some examples include Kirk Douglas (B&W infobox photo from 1963, died in 2020), Fidel Castro (B&W infobox photo from 1959, died in 2016), Muammar Gaddafi (B&W infobox photo from 1970, died in 2011), Bhumibol Adulyadej ((B&W infobox photo from 1960, died in 2016), Robert Mugabe (B&W infobox photo from 1979, died in 2019), Slobodan Milošević (B&W infobox photo from 1988, died in 2006), and Daniel arap Moi ((B&W infobox photo from 1979, died in 2020). Sure Elizabeth II's current infobox photo is in color, but it is a formal portrait from 1959 instead of a photo in the 21st century when she was elderly. Is there a citable consensus discussion where black and white is explicitly preferred? The image doesn't look as professional or high quality, unlike the other pages you cited (and also WP:OSE isn't a valid argument in most cases). Just a few weeks ago, I became involved in a discussion on ANI where an editor was topic banned for bludgeoning discussions and responding to every comment, especially for bludgeoning one where he failed to explicitly cite a specific discussion where a consensus was held. Images 2, 4, and 5 all have other people in them in difficult-to-crop areas so I'd scratch them immediately. Image 8 (the current) is just terrible; she's looking to the side. Images 1 and 6 are really low resolution. To me that leaves image 3 (the original standard) and 7.
