Deletion of Article[edit]

The addition of a phrase along the lines of 'despite losing money, Dey is called an entrepreneur' is non-neutral, and could be construed as defamatory. Additionally, there seems no reason to include a company's first year financial records in a biographical entry. Wikisoworg (talk) 20:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Have re-removed the sentence

He has managed to gain a great deal of press coverage despite his company, Enternships, making a cumulative loss of £1,968 GBP[1] since it was established.

for the reasons stated above. Additionally, the statement and its continued inclusion by the same user begins to appear malicious. 94.174.67.231 (talk) 10:58, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking as the subject author the page is about myself and work as an entrepreneur thus far. I wanted to give my view on this issue as the removal of the line is not an attempt to 'hide' anything - merely the fact that it is not relevant for the biography itself. As most people will recognise starting up a venture can be tough and in the first couple of years things took time to get going - hence limited financial activity. Pointing to the profitability of the venture is not relevant to the article and the tone clearly violates the NPOV ethos of Wikipedia. Most online ventures (especially ones which are not externally funded) take time to get going and certainly to reach profitability. Company accounts of founders are not attached to the profiles of other entrepreneurs on Wikipedia and I feel it to be a malicious attempt by the editor to repeatedly include references to historical accounts which are not material to the overall article. The subject author is the main contributor to this page, with 19 edits in total (13 more than the nearest). The Wikipedia article is simply being used as a self promotional tool and contains selective facts which misrepresent the subject author's true business achievements. Enternships.com was incorporated in February 2009 and till date, has amassed a cumulative loss of £1,968. This is material information and should be considered by those that read and listen to his 'advice' to other young entrepreneurs. Clearly, the author is a one man PR show and this entire article should be deleted as it violates several Wikipedia guidelines:

  1. The above information regarding the cumulative loss has been construed such that the business is a failure and does not warrant the publicity it has received. Without taking into consideration (or communicating to the reader) that not being profitable within the first years is often the case with early stage companies, and does not reflect the impact achieved from the venture. Furthermore, the intent of the post is clearly malicious as this was the focus on the opening line, and meant to discredit further information on the page.

Financial profits(loss) is not the only metric of success/impact and should not be the sole basis on which publicity is worthy or not, nor should it be a focal point of a person's biography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justinbes (talkcontribs) 09:06, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Self-promotion. It can be tempting to write about yourself or projects in which you have a strong personal involvement. However, do remember that the standards for encyclopedic articles apply to such pages just like any other. This includes the requirement to maintain a neutral point of view, which can be difficult when writing about yourself or about projects close to you. Creating overly abundant links and references to autobiographical sources is unacceptable. See Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
  2. Many of the content restrictions listed above apply to your user page and user talk page as well. Your user page is not a personal homepage, nor is it a blog. More importantly, your user page is not yours. It is a part of Wikipedia, and exists to make collaboration among Wikipedians easier, not for self-promotion. See User page help for current consensus guidelines on user pages.

The first two years of the company were where I had just graduated and was working out the direction of what we were doing and we were not charging for the service. Like many Web 2.0 companies it's important to develop a user base before starting to monetise (which we did successfully working with thousands of SMEs and students.) We did not raise external investment and despite operating on a shoestring budget have achieved considerable impact in the space we operate in - working with thousands of businesses. We now have a team of 8 operating in Angel and have also raised external funding and thus your comments are clearly of a malicious nature and are vindictive. I would be happy to engage in a discussion with you should you wish to identify yourself and get in touch and as you can see I am very open and happy to be transparent about the background and this is exactly the story I share with other young entrepreneurs. If you feel any of the rest of the content of the article is inaccurate you are also free to edit this yourself. The 'success' of an entrepreneur is not purely based on profitability alone - especially when in early stages - without wanting to make comparisons but to highlight a point - you are probably aware that companies such as Twitter - hugely success by are they profitable? Yet you do not see references to company accounts on the Biographies of the Founders of these ventures and neither does it detract from the success they have achieved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rightuser112 (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 12:03, 4 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Having read through this talk page after coming across an article that covered Rajeeb Dey, I was very interested in finding out more about him. Upon coming to his Wiki page, I was shocked to find that someone who has been portrayed as a successful entrepreneur through the media and press to really be no different than the 90% of other so called entrepreneurs. This really is a testament that journalists do not do the research to verify the claims people make. It is quite amazing that the article subject has not only contributed the most to this page but also is portrayed as a role model entrepreneur that happy to give business advice to others. Is it not the main aim of entrepreneurs to make money through their business? If people are not willing to pay for the service you offer, then is it really that valuable/impactful? Now don't get me wrong, I like Enternships a lot, but I found it surprising to see the company accounts to show a loss when the founder is an award winning business person,

Making a loss in a business is nothing to be ashamed about, many millionaires have several failures in the past, but the fact that this information is trying to be hidden away is concerning. Also, Twitter has been profitable since 2009, so that's a bad example: http://mashable.com/2009/12/21/twitter-is-already-profitable/

I have marked the article for deletion as it appears to be overwhelmingly written by Rejeeb Dey himself and therefore is non-neutrial and biased. 80.74.134.174 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

I find it very interesting that you've taken the time to contribute to this page and this page alone with your views above which makes me question your own motives and identity. You'll be pleased to know that since Feb 2012 we do charge for our service: https://www.enternships.com/en/pricing and have also signed major contracts to deliver service to blue-chip clients such as Santander Bank: http://santander.enternships.com/ and so your assertion of a worthless service I would say is wrong - its just that these developments have occurred as we have developed traction and subsequently raised angel investment (and thus not reflected in the initial company accounts). I would also point out that Enternships is just one of my ventures which you have chosen to focus on rather than the other endeavours I have launched/been involved with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rightuser112 (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 08:50, 5 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

This is a very self-promotional wikipedia page. It has much more biographical information that actual famous, accomplished people. The editing and discussion history make it transparent Rajeeb is very involved with the creation and quelching of discussion of this page. It has been this way for over a year. A wikipedia editor needs to see this comment and take action. The article needs to be deleted or at least severely amended. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.12.212.19 (talk) 10:10, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
