Coal lines[edit]

Many of the heavy haul coal lines were electrified from 1986, as was the North Coast Line between Brisbane and Rockhampton, constituting Australia's only significant non-suburban electrified rail system.

Given the title, these are the main electrified lines and merit some history and description ....

Yerongpilly (Tennyson Line)[edit]

The Tennyson line was opened in 1882. It allowed a quick passage of Ipswich coal to the south side wharves, and later to the Tennyson power station. Electrified in 1982, but the only passenger service, now defunct, was a one-car rail motor.

Many of the rail and highways in QLD were commissioned by JBP. No mention has been made of this in the article. He was the lambasted by the ALP and media for years, yet less than 30yrs later his infrastructure is too small for the population, and the ALP has no interest in spending their money. This is particularly true for water supplies. The ALP govt lambasts the population for excessive water usage, but the states dams are at least 40yrs old.203.220.102.111 (talk) 00:37, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
