Standards[edit]

This article doesn't meet Wikipedia standards for a good encyclopedic article. The form and content of the article are rather fit for a web page not an encyclopedia. Kpjas 06:25, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup needed[edit]

It looks like the references section may be just the result of a medline search. Could probably use some editing to cut it down to just a few good references (those used in the article, plus some background reading).

The article also seems to lack connection to pre-conception care. Things like folic acid, etc. Needs better (more focused) connection to other articles about related topics (e.g. pregnancy, genetic risk factors, ...). Zodon (talk) 03:24, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Conclusion"-section[edit]

Conclusion[edit]

Pre-conception counseling, assessment and screening can aid the woman and her unborn child if she conceives. Attention to areas which can be controlled, listed above, can improve a woman's chances to conceive as well as improve the in utero environment of the fetus and improve the overall health of the fetus. Pre-conception counseling, assessment and screening also assists the physician in being aware of pre-existing conditions and areas of potential problems so that he/she can better evaluate and guide the woman-patient. Women who are thinking of getting pregnant should see their physician first, before stopping their current birth control. Investment of time, energy and attention to potential problems during a pre-conception planning stage can greatly benefit both the woman and future pregnancy.

Lengthy list of "Further reading"[edit]

I think the lengthy list of "Further reading" that was previously in the article actually did no good for the article. The list is pasted below. Before reinsertion, the list needs to be limited (see Wikipedia:Further_reading#Limited) to a more humane length by sorting out the most relevant sources.
