Looted stuff from India

much of the wealth amassed by Clive was loot that was illicitly collected after the Battle of Plassey. These include Tipu Sultan's magnificent state tent

Needs clarification: Robert Clive died eight years before Tipu became Sultan of Mysore - I suspect his son Edward acquired it. 136.56.27.70 (talk) 18:22, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Many thanks for the heads up. Yes, it does look confused/confusing. I shall check it out. KJP1 (talk) 20:59, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Does this help? "Robert amassed vast fortunes derived from his activities in India, both in cash and in fine and decorative arts. / The Clive Collection contains over 1,000 objects acquired by Robert, Edward and Henrietta. It includes the tent of Tipu Sultan (1750–99), ‘Tiger of Mysore’, and a gold tiger’s head finial from his throne –both of which were taken after Tipu’s death during the siege of Seringapatam." Marquess Gate

Both Commons and Geograph are weirdly devoid of images of the restored Marquess Gate. Has it been inaccessible for a long time? The castle grounds are reopening very shortly, although only to residents of Wales. A photo by a Welsh wiki editor would be hugely appreciated. KJP1 (talk) 21:25, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
