Which Continental?[edit]

Is it competing against the Continental GT or the Continental Flying Spur ? Hektor 19:30, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's more of a competitor to the Continental GT, which is sportier in nature than the Flying Spur, which is larger and softer. Even the GT is a poor cpmpetitor to the Panamera, as the Panamera is going to be lighter weight and more sports-focused.

Current image[edit]

That image is only a guess of what its going to look like. It also has a huge water mark in the middle of it. I think it needs to be replaced. X360 00:22, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the picture isn't free. So it shouldn't be used here (intellectual property rights). Please set a link to the picture on the source page. Paule 23:53, 7 December 2006 (MEZ)

FYI, I added a factory-sanctioned promotional image which is licensed as Public Domain because pictures like these are. I have also added new reputable External Links which contain new information on the car which has been publicly revealed on the Internet as of 2:00 AM Nov 23, 2008 (GMT + 08:00).

Promotional pictures are not PD, so don't try to pretend they are. In addition these ones are in violation of an embargo. So I remove it. Hektor (talk) 10:26, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, Red marquis has been blocked for image copyright violation. Be cautious of any images he might add after the block expires. swaq 16:53, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current Picture is still pretty poor - largely obscured. I thought I'd crop this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/magillicuddy/2956405256/) image and use it instead as it seams better. I'm confident the rights would allow this, but thought I'd give people a chance to object in case it is seen as technicaly a worse image becasue of the angle or something, despite the lack of obstruction. Let me know if I should go ahead. Gul e (talk) 00:32, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is anyone ever going to change that horrible spyshot image? The car has been out for some time now. Porsche has released dozens of pictures and surely one of you have taken an image of it out and about with no camo. Oh, and the images I posted were not violating an embargo. It had been released via Autoblog, after which, every other automotive news channel followed suit - they're the ones who violated the embargo. Not me. Red marquis (talk) 02:53, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Calendar[edit]

This sentence is incredibly vague: "On the 2009 calendar, the Panamera turbo can be seen on the September page." What 2009 calandar? The 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Calendar? 2009 Playboy Calendar? The 2009 NFL Calendar? Whoever added that sentence needs to specify who's (what publisher) calendar they are speaking of. Otherwise the sentence makes no sense and should be deleted. --Patriotic dissent (talk) 08:03, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biased and outdated[edit]

It seems that the article is in general biased against the appearance of the Panamera. This stems in part from the ugliness of the test mule that was seen months before the release of official Panamera pictures. However, now that official pictures have been released, and that some journalists have already seen the car in person[1] (and found it to be not as ugly as initially thought... just different and controversial), I think that this article should:

  • Cut back on talking about the ugliness of the test mule
  • Remove information on artists impressions and speculation on how the car might look
  • Adopt a more objective tone when talking about the car's appearance.
  • Update the information in general.
  • Maybe add its so ugly it makes me sick to look at for a long time

Oh and by the way, it seems that the Lamborghini Estoque isn't going into production[2] so the sentence claiming that the Panamera is going to compete with the Estoque should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.232.179 (talk) 03:15, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very out of date now in 2015. Urgently needs updating with new models. Philsy (talk) 17:45, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Weird wording[edit]

"Porsche will keep production rate at around 20,000 cars per year." What does that mean? Will they scrap those cars that they cannot sell of the 20000? Or do they seriously expect to get more than 20000 orders per year, for a car starting at about 100000 Euro? That would effectively double (?) the market segment of high-price luxury saloons. Maybe the statement should be redrafted. Thyl Engelhardt 213.70.217.172 (talk) 11:26, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

US Market[edit]

Aren't the offerings different in the US market? I.E. No V6, PDK standard, manual not available? Bcworkz (talk) 18:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it a sedan or a hatchback?[edit]

The article states Panamera is a sedan/saloon. Isn't it a hatchback? North wiki (talk) 06:54, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As noted at Talk:Porsche, it should be identified in the article as it is in the references, i.e., sedan. Alanraywiki (talk) 04:06, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This car is not a 4 door sedan, it's a 5 door liftback: http://www.arpem.com/coches/coches/porsche/panamera/fotos/porsche-panamera-s-estatica3.jpg http://www.lastautonews.com/last-auto-news/porsche-panamera-sedan-launched-shows-a-liftback-bodystyle/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.60.32.45 (talk) 20:54, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is another classification that specifically is a 4 door with a hatch....it's called a station wagon. 207.81.141.208 (talk) 03:21, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

I nominate that this article be moved to Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo as it is the car's full name. In fact Porsche calls it as such in their promotion. -Red marquis (talk) 09:19, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree with this move. We should stick with the common name which is just Porsche Panamera. Just downloaded the brochure from here and it makes no mention of this name. By the way you didn't nominate the move you just went ahead and did it. Bjmullan (talk) 12:48, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Moved the article back to the original title, pending consensus. GoldDragon (talk) 14:56, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In depth tour[edit]

You can do a sweatpants (Porsche Panamera) and jeans (Lexus ES) comparison. That's ok![edit]

First of all, the Lexus ES is sportier in nature than the Toyota Camry. Secondly, the Lexus will be executive sport-focused! And finally, between these two pants is that the sweats are sporty while the jeans are built for photogenic and style.

Sweats -- sporty, warm, cute, soft, exercise and warm-up wear, etc

Jeans -- just to commute in, for looks, etc. A lot of them are really, really cute because they make you photogenic like a celebrity.

70.135.110.135 (talk) 23:36, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. The Panamera competes in a certain market segment. The Camry/Lexus ES350 is not in that market. The references cited do not include the Lexus. And, the number changes you made were not sourced (games are not a reliable source.) 72Dino (talk) 23:40, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Panamera and the Lexus ES don't seem to be in the same class.
Panamera Lexus ES
derived from sports cars derived from family cars (Camry)
RWD/AWD FWD
3.0-4.8 L, 300-550 hp engines (V6/V8) 2.4-3.5 L, 160-280 hp engines (I4/V6)
manual/auto auto only
Obviously the Panamera is a luxury sport scar that happens to have 4 doors and the ES is a luxury car with no sporting pretentions at all. Therefore the Lexus ES is not in the same class.  Stepho  talk  02:42, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lexus is not Daewoo, so it does belong on the list![edit]

Panameras compare to bigger pants, while Daewoos compare to pajamas and very small clothes you grew out of.

70.135.110.135 (talk) 00:44, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Try loosening the pajama pants tied around your neck; they seem to be constricting bloodflow to your brain.  Mr.choppers | ✎  00:10, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier Porsche sedan(s)?[edit]

Porsche considered a sedan in the 60s or early 70s. Didn't a Porsche executive build his own? Would this be something to feature in this article? I think it would fit great. --RThompson82 (talk) 00:28, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a section and image at the Porsche 928 article about the four-door Study H50 based on the 928 (it's towards the bottom of the article.) 72Dino (talk) 00:35, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I meant an earlier model, its a 911-derived car, as I recall. Anyone remember that? --67.171.164.195 (talk) 04:41, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Publicity - Taxamera[edit]

I have removed the sentence on the "Taxamera" as this isn't an official Porsche model or even acknowledged by Porsche, and the reference just appears to point to an auto blog commenting on a Panamera being used as a taxi. Buyoof (talk) 17:13, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
