They were in fact called the Bashaws of Somerset House. They were called this because they were based at somserset house. Bashaws was a victorian pronounciation of Pashas (http://www.questia.com/PM.qst?a=o&docId=77336425), Pasha being the name of an official, originally from the Ottoman Empire.
