Patrician opposition[edit]

Fernczy's belief (which I have to look up for details ) is pure speculation. The sources only say that a pair of consuls did not recognize Appius' lectio because of who it included (descendants of freedmen), not that they didn't recognize the validity of a censorial lectio in principle.
